Companion Fares,
    Mileage Sought
    The Sitka Seafood Festival is seeking companion fares and mileage to help with travel expenses to bring chefs and speakers to Sitka for this year’s festival, Aug. 1 and 2. Those who can help out are asked to call Linda at 747-6985.

    Capital Budget
    Testimony Taken
    The Senate Finance Committee will take testimony on SB 119 for the capital budget 3-3:30 p.m. April 3 at the Sitka Legislative Information Office, 201 Katlian Street, Suite 102, on the first floor of the Totem Square Inn.
    Those wanting to testify should arrive by 2:45 p.m. Testimony will be limited to two minutes.

    Tribal Council Meets
    The Sitka Tribe of Alaska Tribal Council action-only meeting will be held noon April 2 at the Sheet’ka Kwáan Naa Kahídi.
    Those wishing to give a presentation or speak before the Tribal Council may do so at the regular monthly meeting on April 16. For information contact Kathy Hope Erickson, 747-7352.

    FASD Support
    Meeting April 3
    The FASD Community Support Group will meet 6 p.m. April 3 at the Sitka Pioneers Home Manager’s House.
    The program will include ‘‘How Family and Community Offer Support for an Invisible Disability.’’ Networking time will follow.
    Those seeking information about fetal alcohol syndrome are invited to attend. Light refreshments will be served. Call 747-7978 for more information.

    Seafood Festival
    Group to Meet
    The Sitka Seafood Festival will hold a meeting, open to the public, 6 p.m. April 17 at Centennial Hall. Anyone who is interested in being involved, or has any ideas or suggestions for the 2014 festival, is being encouraged to attend.

    Cardio Dance
    Class at Hames
    Starting April 3 Sitkans can ‘‘bust-a-move’’ with local physical therapist Gio at his cardio-based dance class.
    Eight classes will be offered. The calendar with dates and details can be seen at hamescenter.com or the Hames Center at 747-5080.

    Grants Offered to
    Nonprofit Groups   
    The Coast Guard Spouses’ and Women’s Association is granting funds to local nonprofit community organizations and to school athletics and activities in May.
    Organizations wishing to receive funds will need to complete the community grant request form located at www.sitkacoastguardspouses.org.
    The form must be completed and postmarked by April 16. Submit completed form to CGSWA of Sitka, P.O. Box 1164, Sitka. Call Rose at 966-2599 for questions.

    Boards, Panels
    Open at STA
    Sitka Tribal Enterprises board of directors has openings for two tribal citizens and two at-large seats for those interested in economic development.        The Health Committee has two tribal citizen seats for those interested in health and human services. The Gaming Committee has one opening for a tribal citizen who is interested in charitable gaming.
