Business Sought
Sitka businesses that are hosting events for Art Walk 2015 on March 13 during the Arti-Gras celebration are being asked to contact the Greater Sitka Arts Council.
The council plans to promote the event along with Art Walk activities.
The Art Walk is planned 5-8 p.m. on Friday, March 13, at various businesses in downtown Sitka. For a $60 fee, the Greater Sitka Arts Council will provide promotional support. Events also will be featured in promotions for the eighth annual Arti-Gras Music and Arts Festival, March 2-14.

The senior party planning meeting will be 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, in the Exhibit Room at Centennial Building.
White E Shop Sets
Monthly Meeting
The White Elephant Shop monthly meeting will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Swan Lake Senior Center. All volunteers are welcome to attend. The public is invited.
Monthly Grind
Tickets at Door
Tickets will be available at the door for the Jan. 17 Sitka Monthly Grind at the Sheet’ka Kwaan Nah Kahidi.
Because of remodeling efforts at Old Harbor Books, grind tickets will only be available at the door at the Sheet’ka Kwaan Naa Kahidi 3-5 p.m. and 6:30- 7 p.m. on the show day.
The theme this month is the “Fiddle Grind” and all musicians are being encouraged to join the Stageful of Fiddlers at the start of the show to play the tunes “Angeline the Baker,” “Soldier’s Joy” and “Over the Waterfall.”

Family Program
At SJ Museum
The Sheldon Jackson Museum will teach children about Unangan artist John Hoover during the At Saxan free family program 1 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Sheldon Jackson Museum.
A slide show about his art will be followed by the group making raven mobiles inspired by Hoover’s work. The program is free and best for children ages 6-10, the museum said.

Updating income information may lead to lower payments through the Health Insurance Marketplace
Alaskans who signed up for the Affordable Care Act Health Insurance Marketplace last year are being reminded that is it necessary to update their income information before Feb. 15.
SEARHC said in a press release that many people have received notices that their insurance premiums have increased. In order to receive the lowest price available, individuals must call the Health Insurance Marketplace at 1-800-318-2596 and provide 2015 income information, even if it has stayed the same. Information may also be updated online or by calling SEARHC at 966-8883 or 966-8662 for local assistance.
Updating the information will automatically recalculate your tax credit against the premium cost which may then provide more assistance paying a monthly premium. If done before Jan. 15, the lower premium will start Feb. 1. If information is updated between Jan. 15 and Feb. 15, lower monthly cost will start on March 1.

LGBTQIA2S to Meet
Pacific High School will host the Sitka LGBTQIA2S and Allies gathering on the last Sunday of each month beginning with 2-3:30 p.m. Jan. 25.
‘‘Let’s meet one another in this safe and supportive atmosphere to share stories and friendship to help our community appreciate the diversity that makes Sitka fabulous,’’ organizers said.

Cheerleading
Clinic Jan. 17
The Sitka High School cheerleaders will host a cheerleading clinic 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, for ages 6-13 at the SHS gym.
Kids will also get a chance to perform at Sitka versus MEHS boys basketball game at halftime on Jan. 30 at SHS.
