Island Institute artist-in-residence Kimi Eisele will present ‘‘In/Out of the Shadows,’’ a free shadow theater for all ages performed with paper cuttings and live music, 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Sheet’ka Kwaan Naa Kahidi.

Free Parenting
Seminar Nov. 21
A Free Triple P Positive Parenting Seminar, for parents of children ages 0-12, will be 2-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Hames Center.
In the Power of Positive Parenting seminar, participants will: learn ways to reduce stress in their family; become a more confident and competent parent; take home specific assertive discipline strategies; and connect with other parents in the community. Free dinner and free childcare are available.
Adults will be in the upstairs classroom, and children will be in the gym.
The event is hosted by Sitka Community Hospital and Center for Community.

Eisele to Speak
At Fellowship
Kimi Eisele will be the guest speaker at Sunday’s Unitarian Fellowship meeting. Fellowship begins at 10:30 a.m., with the program beginning at 10:45 a.m.
Eisele is the current artist in residence at the Island Institute. She is a versatile artist, working with fiction writing, paper cuttings, drawings, watercolors, photos, video and movement. While in Sitka, she has been investigating the yellow cedar tree through science and art, and has been offering workshops in compositional improvisation, shadow puppetry, and Story Lab. Her work explores themes of nature, spirituality and the body.
Soup and bread follow the program at noon. The Fellowship Hall is located at 408 Marine Street, with parking behind off Spruce Street.
Woman’s Club
Meets Saturday
Sitka Woman’s Club will hold a luncheon meeting at noon Saturday at the home of Sandy Poulson, 1 Maksoutof Street.

Elder Connection
Event Set Nov. 6
Elder Connection’s kick off event will be 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at the Hames Center.
The group will discuss ways to support seniors in Sitka. All are welcome. Those over 60, and those who want to support Sitka’s senior community, are encouraged to attend.

SEAWIFs to Meet
Southeast Alaska Women in Fisheries will meet 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, at 1937 Dodge Circle.
The group will discuss the Mariners Wall, Blessing of the Fleet and the Fishermen’s Flea Market, among other subjects.

Northern Southeast Regional Aquaculture Association Inc. will hold its fall board of directors meeting 9 a.m. Nov. 12-13, in the NSRAA conference room, 1308 Sawmill Creek Road.
