Mark A. Hill

    A memorial service for Mark Aaron Hill, a former Sitka resident, will be 2 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Sitka Salvation Army church.
    Mark died Oct. 28, 2012, in Ketchikan. He was 51.
    He was born March 14, 1961, in Sitka, the son of Elizabeth D. (Marks) and David C. Hill Sr. He graduated from Sitka High School.
    After leaving Sitka, Mark lived in Anchorage before moving to Ketchikan. He was a longshoreman with Southeast Stevedoring.
    He was baptized in the Russian Orthodox Church, and attended the Church of the Nazarene and the Salvation Army.
    He enjoyed all sports – pool, bowling, football, baseball, horseshoes and basketball. He “loved to watch TV with his dad and brother Frank,” his family said. “He loved to walk around and talk to people, and loved to ride his unicycle.”
    He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth D. Hill; grandmothers Mary Marks and Olive Sobieski; aunts Selina Wrenn and Emily Williams; uncles Ronald Hill and Richard Hill; nephew David Karels; and cousin Anthony “Tony” Wrenn.
    He is survived by his father, David C. Hill Sr.; brothers David C. Hill Jr. and Frank Allen Hill; sister Olive Elizabeth Kilpatrick; uncle Jack Sobieski; aunt Joanne Lancaster; nephews Michael Curtis Karels, John Steven Peterson, Brandon Hill and Jason Hill; cousins Sabrina, Camille, Suzette, Monique, Wayne, Frank and Aaron Wrenn, and Tillie, Suanne, Kevin, Tasha, Joseph, Bill and James Williams.
    Numerous relatives throughout Alaska also survive.
