Scott Reno Falzerano Jr.
Services have been scheduled for Scott Reno Falzerano Jr., a lifelong Sitka resident.
A private service for close friends and family will be held at the United Pentecostal Church at 101 Cascade Creek Road 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23. At 1 p.m., a public celebration of life will be held at Sheldon Jackson College Sweetland Hall.
Scotty was born March 28, 1994, in Sitka. He graduated from Sitka High School on May 28, 2012.
He was a commercial fisherman, seafood processor, and sea mammal hunter. It was discovered he had passed on Nov. 15, 2013, at age 19.
An avid outdoorsman, Scott loved the wilderness. He enjoyed camping, hiking, hunting and fishing. He spent much of his life in the woods and on the water. He went out on the boat frequently with his dad, Scott Sr., and with his closest friends. He hoped to one day become a gunsmith and open his own shop.
Scott had a meek and humble soul and a gentle spirit. Those who were privileged to know him well and to call him “friend” know of his sensitive nature and will miss his beautiful smile and his loving way.
Scott is survived by his mother Heleena Juli (Chapman) van Veen of Sitka; father Scott Reno Falzerano Sr. of Sitka; stepfather Ronald van Veen of Sitka; stepmother Veronica Falzerano of Sitka; sisters Hanne Falzerano and Seveah van Veen of Sitka; brothers Gabriel van Veen and Nicholas Falzerano of Sitka; grandmother Kathy Falzerano of Montana; grandfather Doug Falzerano Sr. of Anchorage; grandmother Betty van Veen of Sitka; and grandfather Johannes (Maria) van Veen of Kingman, Ariz.
Also surviving are uncles Ned (Julie) Chapman of Juneau, Lincoln (Sophia) Chapman of Albuquerque, N.M., Douglas (Lacie) Falzerano of Sitka, Paul van Veen of Portland, Ore., Tony (Blanca) van Veen and Eric (Cathy) van Veen of Sitka, Greg (Cindy) van Veen of Vancouver, Wash., David van Veen of San Diego, Calif., Daniel van Veen of Eugene, Ore., Marty (Kathy) Heikkila of St. Helens, Ore., and LJ Rauscher of Juneau; aunts Spurgina Jeter and Tonia (Paul) Rioux of Sitka, and Cory Chapman of Fairbanks; and great-uncle Max Williams of Sitka.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather George Chapman and grandmother Helen Chapman.
Pallbearers will be: Scott Falzerano Sr., Ronald vanVeen, Gabriel van Veen, Nicholas Falzerano, Ned Chapman, Lincoln Chapman, Doug Falzerano, Jr., Eric van Veen, Tony van Veen, Greg van Veen, Marty Heikkila, Shawn Chandler, Kaleb, Kyle and Krynn von Scheerschmidt, Brandon Hoffay, Chris, Bob and Doug Polasky.
