Police Blotter

Police received the following calls as of 8 a.m. today:

March 23

At 10:10 a.m. an animal problem was reported on Tongass Drive.

At 12:43 p.m. an assault was reported in the 400 block of HPR.

At 1:21 p.m. a citizen contact issue was reported at the Japonski work float.

At 4:18 p.m. a caller reported suspicious activity in the 1300 block of SMC.

An alarm sounded at a downtown bank at 6:32 p.m.

March 24

At 12:22 a.m. a caller reported a domestic problem.

A protective order was issued at 1:22 a.m.


Emergency Calls

At 4:35 p.m. Monday, Sitka Fire Department sent a fire truck to 1504 Edgecumbe Drive where a fire was reported in a bathroom. The occupant put out the fire before the truck arrived.


In Court

Aiden Reid Peterson,19, on a charge of driving under the influence was sentenced to 30 days with 25 suspended, and fined $1,500. He is to complete treatment. His driver’s license was revoked for 90 days and after driving privileges are restored he is to use an ignition interlock device for six months. He was placed on probation for one year. On a charge of violating conditions of release he was sentenced to five days, suspended. Charges of driving in violation of an instruction permit and violating condition of release were dismissed, along with a charge of minor consuming/possessing/controlling alcohol.

Conner James Forrey, 26, on a charge of interfering with a report of a domestic violence crime was sentenced to 30 days, suspended, and ordered to make restitution. He is to obtain an integrated behavioral health assessment and follow recommendations. A charge of criminal mischief  in the fifth degree (damage under $250) was dismissed.
