Police received the following calls as of 8 a.m. today:

May 27

A domestic problem was reported at 8:10 a.m. on HPR.

A theft was reported at Back Beach.

A theft was reported at an HPR trailer court.

An assault was reported at 3:15 p.m.

At 6:15 p.m. suspicious activity was reported at Totem Square.

At 6:28 p.m. a caller reported suspicious activity at Sandy Beach.

A domestic problem was reported at 6:32 p.m. at a residence on HPR.

At 10:59 suspicious activity was reported on Rudolph Walton Drive.

At 11:35 p.m. a caller reported a bear in the 4800 block of HPR.

May 28

A traffic stop was made in the 4500 block of HPR at 1:03 a.m.

An animal problem was reported on Versa Place at 8:21 a.m.

At 9:55 a.m. a traffic accident with damage was reported on Knutson Drive.

At 11:50 a.m. suspicious activity was reported at a downtown bar.

At 3 p.m. an animal problem was reported on Burkhart Street.

A family fight was reported at a grocery store at 3:56 p.m.

A gas station reported a theft at 4 p.m., and a grocery store reported a theft at 6 p.m.

A store in the 1300 block of SMC reported suspicious activity at 5:04 p.m.

A security check was reported in the 900 block of HPR at 10:49 p.m.

A traffic accident with injury was reported at 11:48 p.m. at Herring Cove.

May 29

A bear was reported at 2716 HPR at 12:18 a.m.

At 4:37 a.m., suspicious activity was reported near Back Beach.

 

Sitka Police

Terence Waldal, 55, was charged Wednesday with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test. He was cited for driving with a revoked license.

Elijah Didrickson, 22, was cited early Thursday morning for speeding.

Moses Jarquin, 19, was arrested Thursday on a warrant.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received four ambulance calls Wednesday and 10 on Thursday.

One of the calls, at 11:48 p.m. Thursday, was for the driver of a vehicle that had gone off the road just after the Sawmill Creek bridge, outbound on the Herring Cove Road. The male driver, the only occupant, was taken to  the hospital, Fire Chief Dave Miller said.

 

In Court

Barry Lee McKee, 71, of Sitka, pleaded guilty to charges of failure to file a fish ticket on Aug. 20, 2018; failure to file reports required of fishermen, processors, buyers, exporters and operators on May 17, 2018; and taking/trafficking in fish/game/plants on Aug. 20, 2018. He was fined a total of $30,000 on the charges with $15,000 suspended. The state was ordered not to seek forfeiture of computers, documents or other assets of the boat or proceeds from the sale. Twenty other fishing charges were dismissed.
