Police Blotter
The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
May 18
The animal control officer picked up a pigeon that wasn’t moving, in the 700 block of Lake Street. It was injured and was taken to the Raptor Center.
A state worker reported receiving a disturbing message from a client who was seen entering the city-state building. The client was taken into protective custody.
At 11:38 p.m. a resident signed a criminal trespass form against a man.
At 11:55 a.m. police received a domestic violence order to serve.
At 12:20 p.m. a man and his wife reported finding what might be a human foot bone in the area of the SJ Museum. The bone was not human, police said.
At 12:27 p.m. a store employee reported a possible theft.
A woman said her boyfriend’s son was moving her belongings out of her house. Police talked to the son, who said nothing in the house belonged to the woman, and that he wouldn’t be returning to the residence.
Three cats were turned in to the shelter.
At 2:14 p.m. a resident said someone was entering her apartment without permission while she was out, and was cooking and showering there. The landlord said he planned to change the locks so that the former tenant could no longer get in. A criminal trespass form was signed against the former tenant.
At 3 p.m. officers stood by while a woman entered her home, and found that the power and water had been disconnected. The landlord agreed to restore power and water for the tenant.
At 3:16 p.m. a driver complained that a woman had cut him off at Indian River and SMC, nearly causing an accident. Police talked to the woman, who said she was new to town and had become confused. She apologized.
At 10:06 p.m. a loud party was reported on the back side of Merrill Street. Officers found all was quiet.
At 10:23 p.m. police checked on a report of a young person yelling at a worker at a Lincoln Street business. The worker said she and a man had been yelling at each other, and no help was needed.
May 19
At 4:49 a.m. a deer was reported struck and killed by a car in the 2600 block of HPR. The carcass was dropped off at the Alaska Raptor Center.
A wallet found on Seward Street was turned in.
In Court
A charge of driving with a suspended or canceled license was dismissed against Linda R. Ozawa, 43.
