LUTHERAN QUILTERS – Members of the Quilts for Comfort Group stand between pews draped with some of the 205 quilts they made, in the Sitka Lutheran Church Tuesday. The group made the quilts for five local non-profits and one in Anchorage. May 22, 2017 Police Blotter

    The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
May 19
    A girl was hit and injured while riding a bike on a sidewalk in the 800  block of HPR. Her mom said she’d take her to the hospital.
    A trespass order was signed for a Smith Street  business.
    Four domestic violence orders were given to police to serve.
    A library employee signed a criminal trespass form against a man.
    At 7:30 p.m. a caller said two people were yelling and possibly hitting each other. The two told officers they were just horsing around and talking loudly.
    A man reported talking incoherently at a laundromat was taken to a hospital.
    A hospital said a woman cleared medically was too intoxicated to care for herself. She was placed in custody.
    A woman said her husband stole their vehicle, and didn’t have a license. The vehicle back home at 2:40 a.m.

May 20
    At 1 a.m. a 911 caller said CPR was being performed on a man who passed out at a bar. He was alert when police arrived, and those involved gave conflicting stories about what happened. Police followed up with the man at the hospital. The case is closed pending any leads, Lt. Lance Ewers said today.
    At 3 a.m. an intoxicated woman at a store was given a ride home.
    At 5 a.m. a man said he had locked his keys in his car along with his luggage he needed to get on the plane. He was given a locksmith’s number.
    A driver knocked over a stop sign at Marine and Erler streets.
    A caller said a man was plugging something into the outside of a vacant home on Sirstad Street, turned around 40 times and went around the house four or five times. He walked away when neighbors took his picture. Officers located the man, who told them he had been charging his cell phone.
    A caller said a man had been living in a fifth wheel on her property without her permission, on Arrowhead Street.
    A 911 caller said an infant was choking but said later the boy was breathing and no objects were found in his mouth. He was taken to the hospital.
    Police told a man reported trying to purchase alcohol for minors to expect a call from his probation officer. He was reminded of laws about purchasing alcohol for underage people.
    A woman reported losing her wedding band and engagement ring.
May 21
    Police talked to two men about open container laws at 12:50 a.m.
    At 1 a.m. a woman was reported being confrontational in a bar. She was given a criminal trespass notice.
    A 72-hour emergency protective order was confirmed by a magistrate.
    Police removed an alder blocking Nicole Drive.
    A woman who tracked her lost phone to a locked building was advised of her options.
    Three trespass notices were given to men in a laundromat. They left on foot.
    A driver who ran into a ditch on Lake Street was given a report form.
    Police asked for help with a child who punched his guardian. The child was encouraged to talk to an agency.
    Men were reported yelling at each other. One of the men was uncooperative but agreed to call police if he wanted further assistance.
    A backpack drybag was reported losts in the last month and a half.
    The Raptor Center was called about a large hawk that appeared to be injured in the 900 block of HPR.
May 22
    At 1 a.m. two bears were seen in  the Thomas Young neighborhood.
    A caller said her grandma was hearing things and becoming violent.
   
    Sitka Police

    Jack L. Joseph, 27, was cited for having an open container on Friday.
    James Nielsen, 63, was cited Saturday for violating conditions of release by failing to show up for a PBT.
    Zachary A.S. Loewen, 27, was charged Sunday with criminal trespass.
    Siosaia M.W. Puletau, 18, was charged today with minor operating a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol.
    Itzel G. Nunez Mora, 19, was cited today for minor consuming, second offense.
    Shelby D. White, 19, was cited today for minor consuming.

    Emergency Calls

    Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 1:29, 3:44, 4:38, 5:55, 9:51 and 11:13 p.m. Friday; 12:58 a.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:16 p.m., 7:25 p.m., 8:42 p.m. and 9:44 p.m. Saturday; 5:20 p.m. Sunday and 3:54 a.m. today.
