Sitka Coast Guard to Hold Memorial Day Ceremony

The Coast Guard Memorial Day Service is planned 9:30 a.m. May 29 at the Sitka National Cemetery Pavilion to honor and remember members of the Sitka Coast Guard family.
U.S. Coast Guard Spouses’ and Women’s Association of Sitka invites active duty, retired and dependent Coast Guard members, and the public, to the event.

Michael Stringer, environmental specialist for Sitka Tribe of Alaska and a founder of the community garden, takes the concept of Earth Week literally. This weekend he hopes others will share his appreciation for “earth” and things growing in it by joining him in preparing the community garden just behind Blatchley Middle School for another growing season.
