The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
June 22
A woman said her juvenile daughter hadn’t been in contact since the previous night. The daughter called police, gave her location and said she wanted to talk to a social services agency. Officers talked to her and both she and her mother went to the police station.
A 911 caller said a boy put a knife to a man’s throat but put down the knife while the caller was on the phone, and she was able to get it away from him. The boy calmed down, and his guardian took him to the hospital.
At 12:24 p.m. a caller said he saw a man with a needle on his lap sniffing a white powdery substance off his fingernail, in a vehicle downtown. The vehicle was gone when officers arrived.
At 1:45 p.m. a man was seen yelling at a pole at the dock in the 4500 block of HPR. Officers found he was “acting out” but not doing anything criminal.
A store owner asked police to help ID a man seen on store video peeing on some clothing. Police said the man didn’t look like someone local.
At 3:30 p.m. a man and juveniles were reported drinking at the block house, Police talked to four adults, with open containers and marijuana. They were given warnings.
A highly intoxicated man passed out in the bushes on the SJ campus was taken into protective custody.
A man said a bus had hit his wife’s car two days before. Police found no crime was committed. Officers were to talk to the bus driver.
At 5:45 p.m. a man said two dogs bit his daughter while she was delivering newspapers. One bite broke the skin on the carrier’s feet, but she didn’t need stitches, her dad said. Police documented the injury, and cited the owner for “objectionable dog (bite).”
At 5:50 p.m. a caller said a dog was being aggressive toward other dogs, but not people, at Kimsham ballfields.
At 6:21 p.m. a caller said a relative may have taken sleeping pills and was intoxicated. He blew .361 PBT and was taken to a hospital.
An ambulance was called for a man at a bar who wasn’t breathing.
Police found two boys on bikes shooting off firework missiles and confiscated their fireworks,.
At 9:30 p.m. a caller said an intoxicated man was throwing bottles at a couple sitting on the beach in the 2900 block of HPR. The caller said the man was belligerent and poked him in the chest a few times before going home.
A young man was reported entering a residence supposedly vacant. It was empty when officers checked.
June 23
At 12:44 a.m. a caller reported an intoxicated person was singing on Gavan Hill and being disruptive. Officers found no one in the area.
At 4:10 a.m. a caller said he was awakened by neighbors playing video games. Police talked to a neighbor who said she hadn’t heard any noises. Officers noticed her TV was turned up due to the woman’s hearing issues.
A second complaint came in about loud video games at 4:30 a.m. The source of the noise was given a disorderly conduct warning and advised of the complaints against him.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 11:20 a.m., 12:10 p.m., 3:36 p.m., 6:25 p.m. and 6:44 p.m. Thursday; and 8:37 a.m. today.
