Honor Roll
University of Alaska Fairbanks has announced students named to the dean’s and chancellor’s lists for the spring semester. Students receiving a 3.9 grade point average or higher are placed on the chancellor’s list, while those receiving a grade point average of between 3.5 and 3.89 are named to the dean’s list.
Sitkans named to the chancellor’s list are: Owen Fulton, Tad Nelson, Walter Palof, Ava Parrish and Tristan Van Cise.

Week three submissions for the Alice Machesney-inspired Active August Fitness Challenge are due 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22.
Walkers and cyclists who do one or more commutes on foot or by bike can enter online at sitkahospital.org or by dropping off a hard copy at the Hames Center, Sitka Public Library, Sitka Public Health Center, Oceanside Therapy Center or Sitka Community Hospital. First place prize for the weekly raffle is a $100 gift certificate to a local business of choice.
Concert Organist
At Lutheran Church
Sitka Lutheran Church will host concert organist William Kuhlman at a recital noon Wednesday, Aug. 23, on the historic 1844 Kessler pipe organ. The program is free and open to the public. He is assisted by Yvonne Kuhlman, who will also perform.
