For Joni Jackson
Services are pending for Joni Jackson, of Sitka, who died Aug. 19 at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage. She was 55.
Joni was a 32-year resident of Sitka. Her sister Valerie may be called at 747-8408.
Chamber to Meet
Jackie Davis, marketing specialist for JI Design and Marketing, will address Chamber of Commerce members noon Wednesday at Westmark Sitka.
The luncheon presentation will be on marketing and using social media.
The public is invited to attend. Lunch is available.
Blue Lake Road
Closure Given
The Sitka Ranger District, in conjunction with the City and Borough of Sitka, has closed the Blue Lake Road to all traffic due to a landslide on the lower portion of the roadway.

Get Notice
Parents and guardians are reminded that students are to report directly to the playground in the morning and no earlier than 7:45 a.m. Adult supervision is not available until that time.
Students should be dropped off at the entrance to the playground in front of the school. Parents are asked not to use the district office parking lot for dropping students off because of traffic congestion and for safety reasons.

Watercolor paintings by Sitka artist Mary Chambers will be on exhibit at Ludvig’s Wine Bar 5-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25.
