TRUCK FIRE – Firefighters knock down a fire in a Ford Explorer truck in Arrowhead Trailer Park in the 1200 block of Sawmill Creek Road Saturday evening. One person received fire-related injuries and was taken to the hospital, Sitka Fire Department Chief Craig Warren said, and the truck was considered a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation, Warren said. Sitka Police Department received the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
Sept. 15
    At 8:22 a.m. an intoxicated man was reported being loud and unruly at Crescent Harbor. He was given a warning and trespassed from the area.
    At 8:30 a.m. a 911 caller reported being harassed and nearly assaulted by a man in the 200 block of Lake. The caller declined to pursue charges.
    At 1 p.m. a caller said a man with his pants down and possibly shooting up was on Eagle Way. The man told officers he had been looking in his backpack, and he showed no indicators of alcohol or drugs, police said.
    At 1:26 p.m. a caller said a man on a bike had shown up on Eagle Way, fallen off his bike, then joined the man just reported there. Officers talked to him and found that although he had been drinking he was OK.
    At 1:33 p.m. two men were reported smoking marijuana in the 200 block of Katlian. Officers detected no pot but had the two pour out the contents of open containers.
    A case of drug abuse was reported.
    A stalking order was to be served.
    At 10:08 p.m. a caller said he had just gone to pick up his child at MEHS and found cones blocking the crosswalk at Seward and Airport Drive. Police and school security checks showed no  road closures, and police surmised students may have moved the cones.
    At 10:18 p.m. a caller reported loud slamming and yelling from the upstairs apartment. An officer advised the caller that the upstairs resident admitted using a tool to disrupt downstairs neighbors. The officers advised both parties to keep it down.
    At 11 p.m. a 911 caller said she wanted a man removed from her residence. A taxi was called to pick him up. The officer said the man was attempting to make sexual advances on the caller.
    At 11:08 p.m. a caller reported a loud outdoor party on Cascade Creek Road. An officer spoke with a renter whose birthday it was and advised that voices be lowered.
Sept. 16
    At 1:59 a.m. a 911 caller reported two men fighting at a residence in the 600 block of SMC. An arrest was made.
    At 9:29 a.m. a caller said her neighbor was crying as she followed her boyfriend, who was saying something about wanting to kill himself. The two returned to their building where the officer talked to them. They admitted to a heated argument but nothing physical.
    At 1:42 p.m. a caller said one of her adult sons was threatening the other. The son causing problems was intoxicated and was taken to another location.
    A caller said her granddaughter was trying to use her Western Union account to send money to some guy.
    A scooter valued at $80-$100 was found in the ANB Harbor parking lot.
    A shotgun was found on the Indian River trail.
    At 7:50 p.m. a caller said a man was carrying a woman over his shoulder then dropping her, in the 200 block of Katlian. At 7:53 p.m. the man himself called 911 to report she was conscious. EMS took her to a hospital.
    At 8:30 p.m. a hospital said a woman recently brought in was refusing care. Officers took her to the station for 12-hour hold pending sobriety.
Sept. 17
    At 12:15 a.m. a downtown bar called 911 to reported a highly intoxicated woman who appeared to have a black eye and was found on the sidewalk outside. She was taken to a hospital.
    At 12:21 a.m. an officer said a woman he’d brought to the PD was saying she needed medication, and was in and out of consciousness. She was taken to a hospital then returned to the PD.
    At 12:23 a.m. a man was reported passed out in the 1600 block of SMC. He was taken to a hospital.
    Criminal trespass orders were signed against two who were caught on surveillance video pulling up to a Granite Creek gate and busting the lock.
    A hotel turned in credit cards patrons had left weeks before.
    A syringe left in a garden area of an apartment building was disposed of.
    At 7:55 p.m. a caller reported hearing a dog yelping on Lance Drive. All was quiet when officers checked.
    At 8 p.m. a caller asked for an officer, and hung up. Police called back, and a woman said she had the situation under control. Police found a teen in the home, and nothing amiss.
    At 10:17 p.m. a caller reported getting a text two hours before about a man sitting on a bench under a church porch. The caller asked police to see if the man was in need of help. No one was around when officers drove around the building.
Sept. 18
    At 2:53 a.m. flooding was reported at a manhole in the 100 block of Seward Street.
    At 5:31 a.m. a Lifeline alarm was triggered when the alarm got stuck under a woman’s arm. She said she didn’t need assistance.

    Sitka Police

    John Borglund, 42, was remanded for violating conditions of release by consuming alcohol Friday.
    Lucas I. Murphy, 27, was charged with disorderly conduct Saturday.
    Janet L. Breslin-Burkhart, 63, was cited for having an open container in a vehicle and no insurance Saturday.
    James J. Kranz, 54, was charged with driving under the influence Saturday.
    Bianca L. Erickson, 28, was remanded for violating conditions of release by consuming alcohol Saturday.
    Oscar Strait, 28, was charged with driving under the influence Sunday.
    Noel Toribio, 22, was remanded Friday for violating conditions of release for allegedly being late for his breath test. He was remanded again Sunday for registering positive for alcohol in his court-orded breath test.
    Rikki Biggs, 24, was charged Sunday with theft in the second degree, fraudulent use of an access device (two counts) and theft in the fourth degree. She was also remanded for violating conditions for failing to obey laws.
       
    Emergency Calls

    The Sitka Fire Department received five calls for ambulances on Friday (after 10 a.m.); three on Saturday; seven on Sunday and one today.

    Coast Guard

    The Coast Guard Air Station Sitka on Saturday medevacked a 52-year-old woman with severe abdominal pain from Haines to Juneau for medical care. Commercial aircraft was unable to respond, due to the “nighttime restrictions,” the Coast Guard said.

Businesses using the Centennial Hall parking lot testified Tuesday against a proposal to charge them rent in addition to the $200 annual permit fee. City Administrator Hugh Bevan made the proposal in response to the Assembly’s direction to Centennial Hall manager Don Kluting to try to close the $340,000 gap between building revenues and operational costs.
