TRUCK FIRE – Firefighters knock down a fire in a Ford Explorer truck in Arrowhead Trailer Park in the 1200 block of Sawmill Creek Road Saturday evening. One person received fire-related injuries and was taken to the hospital, Sitka Fire Department Chief Craig Warren said, and the truck was considered a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation, Warren said. Sitka Police Department received the following calls between 8 a.m. Friday and 8 a.m. today:
Sept. 22
At 8 a.m. a two-car collision was reported blocking the 100 block of Jeff Davis Street. Officers responded.
A laptop was reported stolen from a MEHS dorm.
A man reported to be verbally assaulting an animal shelter volunteer was served with a trespass notice.
At 11:35 p.m. a caller reported a physical altercation in an apartment. Officers found a man and a woman with a 3-year-old child. The couple appeared to be hallucinating. OCS took custody of the child and the man was given a warning.
At 11:37 p.m. people were reported arguing at Katlian and HPR. One woman left on a bike and a man left on foot.
Sept. 23
At 2:17 a.m. a caller said people were out on a restaurant deck on Katlian, drinking and uninvited. Police issued four trespass warnings.
A woman said her son had called stating he had overdosed on medication in a suicide attempt. EMS responded.
At 3:42 a.m. a hospital said a man was getting verbally aggressive. An officer stayed until he calmed down.
A man said he’d nearly been attacked by a German shepherd and a pit bull on Indian River Road last night. He said it’s been an ongoing issue.
At 11:35 a.m. a 911 caller said a man was sitting on a bench in the rain on Metlakatla Street, not responding to anyone. While the caller was talking to police the man got up and walked off. Officers were unable to locate him.
A liquor store reported a shoplifter. The store did not want to press charges but did want the thief trespassed.
A downtown store turned in an Alaska Airlines card.
Sept. 24
An ambulance was dispatched for a man possibly having seizures.
At 4:46 p.m. a resident said the road was eroding at Hirst and Monastery streets. Public works responded, and said one of the lanes would be closed while repairs were made.
At 5:51 p.m. police checked on a report of four men consuming alcohol and in possession of firearms, but the range was empty when officers checked. Police said they would follow up on the incident.
At 6 p.m. an ambulance was called for a woman having trouble breathing.
At 8:40 p.m. a man said his wife’s Torker Bermuda Cruiser bike was stolen from the rack near ANB Harbor.
At 9:33 p.m. a caller reported leaving a backpack with cash in it at a bar.
At 9:41 p.m. police responded to a report of a intoxicated and suicidal man assaulting someone and running away, before returning to a residence.
At 10:46 p.m. a domestic argument was reported. Both parties were intoxicated but able to care for themselves, and agreed the dispute was verbal.
Sept. 25
At 2 a.m. a woman said her boyfriend took her vehicle without permission. It was found, with the keys inside, and the woman reclaimed it.

Bryan E. Sanders, 29, was arrested on multiple warrants out of Oklahoma.
Richard S. Discher, 54, was arrested on a bench warrant on two charges of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the second degree, Friday.
Jake B. Trierschield, 18, Tristan N. Duncan, 18, Jagr R. McGraw, 18, and three 17-year-olds were cited with minor consuming early Saturday.
Aaron K. Didrickson, 29, was charged Friday with assault in the fourth degree, domestic violence.
Emergency Calls
The Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 5:25 and 8:55 p.m. Friday; 2:41 a.m., 10:10 a.m., 10:32 a.m., 11:28 a.m., 1:11 p.m., 3 p.m.., 6:49 p.m., 6:59 p.m. and 10:59 p.m. Saturday; and 11:41 a.m., 2:04 p.m. and 6:13 p.m. Sunday.
Coast Guard
The Coast Guard Air Station Sitka helicopter on Saturday medevacked a 70-year-old woman with septic pneumonia from Haines to Juneau; and a 65-year-old man with a blod clot in his lung from Skagway to Juneau, on Friday.
In Court
Steven R. Dumford, 41, of Kingman, Arizona, was sentenced to 90 days, with 89 suspended, for assault in the fourth degree (recklessly injure). He will be on probation for a year. He is not to have contact with a particular individual and is to get counseling. He is to pay $699.20 in restitution to the victim.
Mark S. Roberts, 59, of Petersburg, was fined $3,500, with $1,500 suspended, for fishing during a period closed to commercial troll retention, on Sept. 3. He will be on probation for a year, and the three king salmon that were seized are forfeited. He is to pay $450 in restitution.
A charge of assault in the fourth degree was dismissed against Gravley L. Jacquelyn, 27.
A charge of theft in the fourth degree was dismissed against Athina R.M. Sturm, 18. She is to pay $142 in restitution.

Businesses using the Centennial Hall parking lot testified Tuesday against a proposal to charge them rent in addition to the $200 annual permit fee. City Administrator Hugh Bevan made the proposal in response to the Assembly’s direction to Centennial Hall manager Don Kluting to try to close the $340,000 gap between building revenues and operational costs.
