LUTHERAN QUILTERS – Members of the Quilts for Comfort Group stand between pews draped with some of the 205 quilts they made, in the Sitka Lutheran Church Tuesday. The group made the quilts for five local non-profits and one in Anchorage. The following calls were logged by 8 a.m. today:
Nov. 21
A caller reported a man was “vomiting profusely.” Police checked on him and found he wasn’t intoxicated.
At 8:47 a.m. a driver went off the road near the Raptor Center. Officers determined he didn’t need medical attention, just a tow truck.
At 11:48 a.m. police were called to Baranof Elementary on a report of a man and woman yelling obscenities. The woman was arrested.
At 12:42 p.m. a caller said her German shepherd was missing in the 1200 block of SMC.
Police took
At 12:45 p.m. a driver was reported intoxicated and swerving almost into the roadway near Seward Street. Police took him into custody
At 3:20 p.m. a driver reported hitting a fawn near Whale Park.
Police gave a warning to a driver for failing to secure a car seat with a toddler in it, in the back of a van.
At 5:35 p.m. a resident said her black Lab with a reflective collar had run away from Monastery Street.
Nov. 22
An ambulance was requested for someone who had fallen a few hours before and couldn’t get up. The patient refused further help.

Cora Richards, 44, was charged Tuesday with disorderly conduct.
In Court
Lacey L. Diamond, 28, was sentenced to 30 days, suspended, and fined $1,000, with $500 suspended, on a charge of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree. The crime is consolidated from two charges of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree. Diamond will be on probation for a year, and is to receive treatment. She was sentenced to 30 days, suspended, and fined $1,000, with $500 suspended, for misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree. She is to abide by all trespass orders. Two charges of criminal trespass were dismissed.
Christian T. Knapp, 23, was sentenced to 10 days, suspended, on a charge of concealment of merchandise. A charge of criminal trespass was dismissed. He will be on probation for a year, and is not to have contact with the Sitka harbors, a specific individual and a particular store. Two charges of criminal trespass were dismissed. He was sentenced to five days for criminal trespass, and will be on probation for six months for another count of criminal trespass. He was sentenced to 30 days, suspended, and fined $500 on another count of criminal trespass. He was also found to have violated conditions of probation and ordered to serve 10 days of suspended time. A charge of theft in the fourth was dismissed.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department dispatched an ambulance at 2:15 a.m. today.
At 11:04 a.m. Tuesday a fire truck was sent to Mt. Edgecumbe High School after a sprinkler broke. No help was needed.
At 4:41 p.m. Tuesday a fire truck was sent to Eagle Beach to put out a small beach fire, at the request of the police department.
At 3:04 a.m. today a fire department vehicle was sent to 1403 Johnston Street after a CO2 detector went off, possibly because of a fire in the fireplace. The fire department ventilated the home and adjusted the fireplace.
