    The following calls were logged by  8 a.m. today:
Dec. 12
    A caller said an AA van driver had passed a school bus while its red lights were flashing, and when the bus driver honked at him he honked back. Police contacted the company, which said it would remind its drivers to stop for school buses with red flashing lights.
    At 11:30 a.m. a 911 caller reported a verbal domestic conflict at a home and a woman was outside screaming. A man threw her phone into a bowl of water, but it wasn’t damaged. Officers found no evidence of a crime.
     A school said a beer bottle had fallen out of a student’s property.
    At 12:45 p.m. a 911 caller said a man had fallen to the ground and was vomiting on Harbor Drive. He was taken to a hospital.
    A woman said items were missing.
    At 2 p.m. a caller said her husband was intoxicated and being verbally abusive. Officers found no signs of a crime but the man agreed to leave.
    Dec. 13
    At 1 a.m. a 911 caller reported a domestic in progress in the 800 block of HPR, and a man could be heard saying “stab me, stab me.” An officer found no evidence of a physical altercation and no one would commit to the “stab me” comment.
    At 5 a.m. TSA said an air passenger was trying to fly with a large amount of marijuana. The officer said the paperwork was in order, but the airlines said it wouldn’t let the passenger fly.

    Nicholas Hayne Middleton, 23, was arrested on three state warrants Tuesday for failure to appear for arraignment.
    Walter D. Peratrovich Jr., 36, was remanded at the request of the probation officer for violating conditions of probation by providing a BrAC of .251.


In Court
    Jack Leroy Joseph, 28, on a charge of driving under the influence was sentenced to 30 days with 27 suspended, to be served under house arrest. He was fined $1,500, ordered to complete treatment, and his license was revoked 90 days. After driving privileges are  restored he is to have an ignition interlock device installed for six months. He will be on probation one year.
    Derek J. Daly, 27, on a charge of theft in the second degree was sentenced to 12 months, suspended, On a count of burglary in the second degree he was sentenced to 24 months with 18 suspended, and placed on probation for two years. Charges of burglary in the second degree and theft in the second degree were dismissed without prejudice.
    Jeremy C. Beebe, 44, on a charge of theft in the third degree pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 30 days. On a charge of fraudulent use of a stolen access device he was sentenced to 30 days with 25 suspended, and fined $500, suspended. Items seized were forfeited and he was placed on six months probation. On a charge of theft in the fourth degree he was sentenced to five days, suspended and fined $500. He pleaded guilty to failure to register as a sex offender and was sentenced to 35 days. On a charge of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree he was sentenced to 360 days with 180 days suspended. On a March 22 charge of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree he was sentenced to 180 days flat time. On a  Dec. 2, 2016, charge of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree he was sentenced to 180 days flat time. Six charges of misconduct involving controlled substances in the fourth degree; three charges of theft in the second degree; one of theft in the fourth degree; one of misconduct involving controlled substances in the third degree; one of tampering with physical evidence; one of misconduct involving weapons in the third degree; and one of unlawful contact were dismissed. The sentences are to be served consecutively.
    Felicia Lee Allenger, 25, on a charge of criminal mischief in the fifth degree-damage was sentenced to 30 days, suspended, fined $1,000 with $500 suspended, and was ordered to follow treatment recommendations. On a charge of fraudulent use of an access device she was found guilty and sentenced to 90 days with 60 suspended and ordered to make restitution. She will be on probation for one year. A charge of assault in the fourth degree, reckless injury; violating conditions of release; and criminal mischief in the fifth degree were dismissed.

Emergency Calls
    Sitka Fire Hall received ambulance calls at 12:46 a.m. and 4:52 p.m. Tuesday.

Responding to the requests of athletes, coaches and parents, the Sitka School Board voted unanimously Monday against a proposal that would have changed Sitka High School’s classification from Class 4A, which includes Juneau and Ketchikan, to the 3A, which has schools with enrollment of 100 to 400 students.

Memories of Sitka’s first radio station have been revived by a St. Louis, Mo., man who was one of the founders. Fred A. Wiethuchter recently wrote a letter to “Mayor Sitka, Alaska” asking about the town since he was here during World War II. He was an Army private at Fort Ray when he was attached to Armed Services Radio Station KRAY and WVCX ....
