PEAK Program
Hours Offered
The PEAK Program will be open for students 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, and Monday, Jan. 15. It is open to ages 5 to 13.
Students engage in a variety of educational lessons that promote Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. Activities will include: making pasta and bread, Nerf battles on Friday, creating giant cardboard birds, STEAM projects, Lego challenges and outside games.
Registration paperwork can be e-mailed or picked up at 303 Kimsham Street, Lower Level location. The cost is $35 per day.

Story Time Set
Kids story time is offered 10 a.m. on Wednesdays at Old Harbor Books. It is geared for ages 1-3, but all ages are welcome. It includes stories and songs.
‘Snow White’
Fairy Tale Staged
Sitka Spruce Celtic Dancers will present ‘‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’’ 7 p.m. Jan. 20 and 2 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Sitka Performing Arts Center.
The fairy tale is of enchantment and adventure through dance. Tickets are $15 general admission and $5 for ages 5-18 and 65 and older. Children under 5 are admitted free. Tickets are available at Old Harbor Books and at the door. Call Sitka Fine Arts Camp at 747-3085 for more information.
Haida Weaver
Churchill to Teach
The University of Alaska will host master Haida weaver Delores Churchill for a two-week, 2-credit, beginner/intermediate Northwest Coast basketry class 6-9 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays, Jan. 16-27.
Projects include twined or plaited weaving in spruce roots or cedar bark to produce a basket or plaited hat, with particular attention to traditional standards of design. For more information or to register call 747-7700.

Sitka Babies and Books will host its monthly program 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at Sitka Public Library.

Library to Offer
Family Fort Night
Families can register to participate in the first Family Fort Night after-hours program 5:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Sitka Public Library.
Participants are to take sheets, pillows and blankets to build their forts. The program includes building and reading time. A prize for best fort will be given at the end of the night.
Free snacks will be part of the program. Registration is required and space is limited. For more information, call the library at 747-8708.
