Sitkans are invited to review and comment on the draft Sitka Comprehensive Plan 2030 documents at Sitka Public Library, the Planning Department office at City Hall, and online at sitkacomprehensiveplan.com.

Ramshackle
Cabaret Staged
The Ramshackle Cabaret and Artchange will present ‘‘Tournament of Kinks’’ Friday and Saturday at Centennial Hall.
The Medieval Marketplace opens at 7:30 p.m. with local crafts and food. The tournament will begin at 9 p.m. General admission tickets available at Old Harbor Books are $25. Attendees must be age 21 or older.
The Ramshackle Cabaret was founded with a rebellious spirit. It is a platform for local volunteers to showcase their untapped, and often unconventional, talents, organizers said.
Proceeds go to Planned Parenthood in support reproductive and sexual health.
Furbearer Trapping
Season to End
Trappers are reminded the season for marten, mink, weasel and river otter in Unit 4 – Admiralty, Baranof and Chichagof Islands – ends Thursday, Feb. 15. Beaver season remains open in Unit 4 through April 30. Pelts of marten, river otter and beaver must be sealed by a department representative within 30 days after the close of the season.

‘Explain Pain’
Class March 14
The public is invited to attend a free “Explain Pain” class 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, at the Sitka Community Hospital classroom.
Bridget Hitchcock, PT, will teach the physiology of chronic pain and how to manage pain. Research shows that understanding pain can help lessen one’s pain. For more information, call 747-1771.
CPR, AED Taught
The Alaska Marine Safety Education Association will conduct a first aid, CPR and AED workshop in Sitka 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at the NSRAA, 1308 Sawmill Creek Road.
Instructor DeVynarae Meeder will cover: CPR and automatic external defibrillators; treatment of choking; medical emergencies; trauma; environmental hazards; patient assessment; medical communications; drowning and hypothermia; and common fishing injuries.
Attendees will receive a U.S. Coast Guard-accepted, two-year certificate issued by the American Safety and Health Institute. The cost is $100, including sales tax. Register online at www.amsea.org or call 747-3287.

Info Night at UAS
The University of Alaska Southeast’s School of Education will host an information night to learn about degree programs for teaching at all levels, including elementary, secondary and middle, and special education.
The event will be 4-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, in Room 229 at UAS.
Faculty will be on hand to discuss a career in teaching and how to get started. Pizza will be offered.
