SEARHC and Cynthia Gibson, CFP with Waddell & Reed Inc., invite Sitkans to a lunch and joint presentation aimed at answering questions about Medicare and Social Security retirement benefits 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, April 20, at Centennial Hall.
‘‘It is common for people to be unsure of their Medicare options, the coverage they need, and when they should sign up to begin receiving Social Security benefits,’’ a press release from SEARHC said.
Susan Briles, a certified Medicare specialist with the outreach and enrollment team at SEARHC, will speak about Medicare options and how to avoid the pitfalls and penalties. Gibson will speak about how to make the most of the Social Security benefits available.

Mossy Raven
To Perform
Following an appearance at the Alaska Folk Festival this weekend in Juneau, Mossy Raven will perform April 16-19 in Sitka.
Raven, a musician and artist from Seattle, left his home to tour the north while living out of a retrofitted Honda Element micro-camper.
He will play at Mean Queen April 16 or 17, and at Beak at 6 p.m. on April 18. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Raven said he plays instrumental acoustic music inspired by a life nestled between mountains and the sea.
‘‘I would say that my music brings the listeners closer to nature and the most beautiful parts of their imagination, so I think it will fit in well with Sitka.’’
