RESTORATION WORK – Father Herman Belt keeps an eye on Lincoln Street traffic this morning as workers use a Snorkel Lift to pull rotten pieces of trim from the facade of St. Michael’s Cathedral. Several pieces recently had fallen off the cathedral, which dates to 1976, causing concerns about other pieces possibly falling off and hitting pedestrians. Belt says the plan is to fabricate new wooden trim and properly flash it. East bound traffic was diverted up American Street during today’s work. The following calls came in by 8 a.m. today:
July 6
A caller said his Lab mix went missing July 3 at Halibut Point Rec Area.
A service agency asked for a civil standby for a guardianship hearing.
A border collie that appeared injured was seen on Kiksadi Street.
Police picked up a border collie that appeared injured, and left a message for the owner on Kiksadi Street. The owner said he would talk to the kids about not letting the dog outside.
At a man said items were stolen from his boat at Sealing Cove July 3.
An ambulance was called for a 91-year-old man who was disoriented.
At 12:27 p.m. a 911 caller said he hit another car in Sealing Cove parking lot. There was not much damage.
At 1 p.m. a 3-year-old boy was reported missing near Centennial Hall. The caller was trying to calm the mother down. At 1:03 p.m. officers reported the child was located, and was fine.
At 3:56 p.m. a pair of brand new slippers was found on the trail near the Starrigavan boat launch.
A caller said the driver of a truck with flags blew through the four-way stop at Charteris Street and Edgecumbe Drive. Police told him there had been multiple complaints about the driver.
An iPhone was left in the bathroom at the airport.
At 6:34 p.m. a resident climbed in a window of the youth hostel. He was advised to leave and not come back.
At 7:07 p.m. a caller said two people in a car appeared to be “on something,” with children in the back. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.
A wallet with nothing of value was found in the 800 block of SMC.
At 6:58 p.m. a man said his brother was going to beat up a woman. Police talked to the wife, who was fine. She was told to call back if he returned.
A caller said her unstable brother has been starting fires. Officers said they would conduct a welfare check.
At 7:40 p.m. a highly intoxicated man was reported to have fallen in the bushes at Pioneer Park. He wasn’t injured and said he would walk home.
A woman reported losing her blue wallet with ID and credit cars.
At 11:45 p.m. a resident complained about loud people behind the library, perhaps “doing hits.” The man and woman in the area agreed to leave.
At 11:59 p.m. loud music was reported on Bahovec Street. Police talked to two men, who agreed to go inside and be quiet for the night.
Emergency Calls
Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 9:39 and 11:55 a.m. Thursday.
