The following calls came in as of 8 a.m. today.
Aug. 9
At 1:43 p.m. a caller said a man was refusing to leave a hotel property. The man was gone when officers arrived.
At 3:26 p.m. a caller said a vehicle was blocking the road at American and Lincoln streets. The vehicle was gone when officers arrived.
At 3:51 p.m. a caller reported yelling from an apartment that could be heard from more than a block away. Officers talked to a couple in a vehicle and gave them a disorderly conduct warning.
At 4:27 p.m. a caller said a man on a bike had cut her off then followed her into the Moller Field parking lot and was screaming at her. An officer spoke to both and advised them to watch more closely at intersections. The biker also was advised to use hand signals.
Dispatch received a domestic violence order to be served.
At 10:44 p.m. a caller on Marine Street reported hearing a woman screaming and wailing. Officers checked the area but couldn’t hear anyone screaming.
August 10
At 4:18 a.m. a caller said he saw a vehicle strike a dog in the 2000 block of HPR. While the officer was en route, the owner left with the dog to seek aid.
Man Indicted On
Assault Charge
A Sitka grand jury Thursday indicted a man on charges of assault in the third degree, a class C felony.
Joseph Patrick Iannon Jr., 52, was accused of “recklessly (placing) another person in fear of imminent serious physical injury by means of a danger instrument: to wit a knife.”
Police reports say a resident was walking his dog at 1330 Seward Ave. on June 24 when a man jumped out of a Ford pickup bearing Washington plates and threatened to kill the resident and his dog with a knife he was holding.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 2:04 p.m. and 9:26 p.m. Thursday.
