The following calls were received by police by 8 a.m. today:
September 19
A grocery store requested a criminal trespass form.
At 10:37 a.m. a caller reported camping gear behind a Lake Street church. Police found a man sleeping there. He packed up his gear and left.
An officer conducted an interview at the Halibut Point dock regarding an incident that occurred on a cruise ship.
A woman said she’d come home after a walk and found her door open. Officers walked through the home with her and found nothing amiss.
A grocery store and a hardware store asked for criminal trespass forms.
A store said a man caught shoplifting had taken off on a gold spraypainted bike. Police were unable to find him.
At 12:35 p.m. a caller said a red pickup in the 1700 block of Edgecumbe Drive was being loaded with items that might be from recent break-ins. Police stopped the vehicle in the 900 block of Lake Street and detained a man and a woman. A second woman was detained later. The vehicle was impounded.
A liquor store said a man who had been trespassed was coming back in.
At 1:41 p.m. a caller said two deer were holding up traffic near Sea Mart. The ACO found the deer on Shelikof Street and shooed them into the woods.
A resident said a caller told him the government had a lawsuit against him and had a warrant for his arrest. The resident hung up and when he called the number back no one answered. Police advised him to contact IC3.gov.
A woman brought in two pieces of property she had bought from people and which she was told were stolen.
A man said some bike riders aren’t following the rules of the road and he’d like the PD and biking community to make sure the rules are followed.
At 3:42 p.m. a caller said a woman in a silver Toyota had run the red lights on a bus at SMC and Jeff Davis Street.
At 8:47 p.m. a caller reported thefts from both of Blatchley’s locker rooms.
September 20
A caller reported getting text messages from a woman about ending her life. She was taken to a hospital.
At 3:24 a.m. a caller reported getting email about her ex. Officers contacted him and were told he was home and not planning to harm himself.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received two ambulance calls Wednesday and three this morning.
