Four Men Arraigned On Burglary, Drug Charges
By Sentinel Staff
Bail was set Thursday for two men and two others were released on their own recognizance, after their arrest earlier that day in connection with burglaries on Edgecumbe Drive and HPR.
Magistrate Amanda Browning presided at the arraignment in the small hearing room at the Sitka courthouse.
The four were charged with a combination of theft, burglary and drug possession counts, after police served nine search warrants throughout Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. The burglaries were reported to have occurred between Sept. 14 and 16.
Bail was set at $1,000 for Bradley R. Ross, 22, who is charged with misconduct involving in a controlled substance in the second degree, for allegedly possessing 7.5 grams of methamphetamine. He was also charged with theft in the third degree, for his alleged involvement in the theft of $432.99 worth of tools from a residence in the 1700 block of Edgecumbe Drive. Police said during the investigation that Ross admitted to receiving the items, found at his residence. He was told to have no contact with the victims and was released Thursday afternoon after posting bail.
Bail was set at $1,500 for Matthew S. Hartshorn, 23, who was charged with misconduct involving weapons in the third degree (three counts) for allegedly possessing a concealed weapon after being convicted of a felony, and possessing a firearm with a serial number removed and an illegally modified Western Field Model SB 100B. The guns were found in his bedroom, police said. He is not to possess firearms, the magistrate said. He was still in custody today, the Sitka Police Department said.
Terrance J. “Damien” Roth, 18, was released on his own recognizance. He is to have no contact with the victims or possess firearms. He is charged with misconduct involving weapons in the third degree and theft in the fourth, for allegedly possessing a Winchester Model 1400 12-Gauge shotgun with an illegally modified barrel, and possessing stolen items, which were found in a relative’s shed.
Terry A. Carlson Jr., 18, was released on his own recognizance. He is not to have contact with Ross or the victims of his alleged thefts. He is charged with burglary in the second degree (two counts), criminal trespass in the first, and theft in the second (two counts). He is alleged to have entered the Edgecumbe Drive and Halibut Point Road properties, with the intent to commit thefts, and stolen tools. Stolen items were recovered at his residence, police said.
The investigation is continuing and more arrests and charges are expected, police told the Sentinel Thursday.
