The following calls were received by police by 8 a.m. today:
October 8
A trash can was knocked over in the 3500 block of HPR but the owner cleaned it up before police arrived.
A backpack found at Pacific High was turned in.
A side view mirror was knocked off a car in the 200 block of Seward Street.
At 9:09 a.m. police shot a bear with a rubber bullet on Islander Drive. It took off toward the peninsula.
A trespass notice was signed to keep a person out of the Pioneers Home.
A woman said she lost her Tlingit design pendants, one with a Frog design, the other with a Diving Raven.
A green velvety bag with flowers on it was reported lost Saturday night.
At 1:30 p.m. a caller asked for an ambulance because he wasn’t feeling well, in the Crescent covered area.
A store said a man was violating a trespass order. He was arrested.
A caller said items were stolen or moved in her house. She called back later to say a nephew had taken shirts, because he believed he could have them. Still missing was a red hoodie.
At 4 p.m. a heated argument was reported in the 200 block of Katlian Street. One person took off when police arrived.
At 4:10 p.m. a church worker reported damage to a fence. It was repaired before police arrived, and a worker said it may have been the wind.
A man reported missing his dark brown hen on Lakeview Drive.
An ambulance was called for a woman who had harmed herself.
October 9
A crime line caller said a man might be under the influence because he was acting strangely. He was taken to the hospital, after police determined he may need medical attention.
At 2:41 a.m. a Granite Creek resident said she’d gotten a text from her friends reporting people on her porch with flashlights, possibly trying to break in. A man was sleeping outside when police arrived. He told police he was at the wrong address, and was renting a trailer nearby.
Sitka Police
Glen R. Jones, 28, was charged Monday with criminal trespass in the second degree, and misconduct involving a controlled substance in the second degree, for alleged possession of heroin.
Grand Jury
A Juneau grand jury on Thursday indicted Jarred A. Davidson, 25, on a charge of assault in the third degree and tampering with physical evidence. Police said the charges are related to an incident in the Price and Burkhart streets area on Sept. 30, in which Davidson is alleged to have threatened a man with a revolver, and tried to hide the gun from police.
A grand jury in Juneau also indicted Charles W. Grogan III, 28, on a charge of misconduct involving weapons in the second degree. Grogan is alleged on Sept. 21 to have fired a gun at or in the direction of a building with reckless disregard for a risk of physical injury to a person or dwelling. Police said Grogan on that day fired a gun through the wall of a residence on Edgecumbe Drive.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 1:28, 2:19 and 7:48 p.m. Monday, and 2:05 a.m. today.
Barbara Lessard
Dies in Colorado
Barbara Ash Lessard, of Sitka, died Oct. 6 in her sleep at the home of her sister in LaJara, Colo. She was 69.
