Sitka Swimmers Storm Ketchikan

The Sitka High School swim and dive team topped the Ketchikan Invitational last weekend.
The girls scored 140 points on Friday and 141 Saturday, Juneau-Douglas 124/129, Thunder Mountain 95/99, Ketchikan 86/79, Petersburg 79/72, Wrangell 20/23 and Craig 4/6.
The Sitka boys scored 127 on Friday with JDHS second with 111; and on Saturday Juneau topped with 122 to Sitka’s 112. Ketchikan had 92 and 99, respectively, Thunder Mountain 89/92, Petersburg 60/51, Wrangell 18/14, and Craig 11/14.
Wolves senior Kyleigh McArthur won the 50 free on Friday in 26.25 and placed second in the 100 free in 57.51 (Wrangell’s Renee Roberts won in 57.00) and second on Saturday in 57.96 (Roberts, 57.13).
Senior Jessica Davis won the 100 back in 1:02.67 on Friday and 100 fly in 1:02.39 on Saturday. Sophomore Grace Harang won the 100 breast in 1:10.56 and 200 IM in 2:15.68 on Friday and 200 free in 2:02.16 (Davis 2nd, McArthur 3rd, Blackmon 4th) and 500 free in 5:28.08 on Saturday.
Sophia Schwantes was second in Friday’s 100 fly in 1:04.45 (Ketchikan’s Laura Sherrill won in 1:02.70).
On Friday, Davis, Molly Blackmon, Harang and McArthur won the 200 free relay in 1:44.51 and the 400 free relay in 3:51.01, and Saturday’s 200 free relay in 1:46.05. Sitka’s Razie Guillory, Erin Blankenship, Sophia Schwantes and Blackmon won the 400 free relay on Saturday in 4:02.39 and Davis, Harang, Schwantes, and McArthur won the 200 medley relay in 1:56.05.
Kessie VonScheerschmidt placed fifth in diving on Friday and fourth on Saturday.
Tytan Frawley won the boys 100 free on Friday in 51.87 and took second in the 100 back with 1:02.91 and won the 500 free on Saturday in 5:09.14.

Senior Janik McKinley won Friday’s 200 free in 1:52.54 and the 500 free in 5:03.14.
Senior Jacob Gagner won the 200 IM in 2:10.44 on Friday and placed second in the 100 back in 1:07.83. He won Saturday’s 100 fly in 58.26.
Hunter Littlefield, Frawley, McKinley and Gagner placed second in Friday’s 200 free relay in 1:39.73 (JDHS 1:36.42) and second in Saturday’s 400 free relay in 3:38.45 (JDHS 3:38.27) and second in the 200 medley relay with 1:50.28 (JDHS 1:49.66).
Sitka diver Branden Widdison placed second, and Aiden Bailey fourth, James McGlone fifth and Darren Mitchell sixth. They placed 3rd through 6th on Saturday.
Next up for the Wolves swimmers is the Region V Championships at Petersburg on Oct. 26-27.
