Dies in Anchorage
Michelle Lee Reaney, 27, of Sitka, died Nov. 30 in Anchorage. Services are pending.

Kayak Video Set
‘‘Paddling the Baillie River 1990, in the barren grounds of Northwest Territories/Nunavut Canada Explorer Club expedition,’’ will be shown 7 p.m. Dec. 11 at 110 College Drive, Room 108.
Kayakers were Erwin Streisinger, Patrick Buchannan and Gail Ferris.
‘‘Very interesting area as we paddle our Kleppers down the river and experience migrating Thelon caribou herd march right across the river in front of our kayaks and right through our campsite in the early morning hours, no they did not step into our kayaks that were just sitting there or on our tents,’’ presenter Ferris said.

Scavenger Hunt
At Public Library
Lost Christmas items in the children’s room at Sitka Public Library are needing to be found.
Scavenger hunt participants can help by writing down the number of characters they find. Correct answers go into a random raffle and the winner receives a prize.
The program runs Dec. 8-31.
Story Time Set
‘‘Bundle Up!’’ is the theme of the 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, preschool story time at Sitka Public Library.
‘‘Red Hat’’ by Lita Judge will be one of the readings. Rhymes, songs and crafts are included in the program. Everybody is welcome.

Michael Stringer, environmental specialist for Sitka Tribe of Alaska and a founder of the community garden, takes the concept of Earth Week literally. This weekend he hopes others will share his appreciation for “earth” and things growing in it by joining him in preparing the community garden just behind Blatchley Middle School for another growing season.
