Yakutat’s Theo Bigelow drained a corner jump shot for the first points of the 13th Annual Mt. Edgecumbe Invitational Adult Basketball Tournament Wednesday night in the B.J. McGillis Gymnasium, but his 13 first-half points were overshadowed by the outside shooting of Sitka ANB’s Oscar Barragan, Anthony Perkins and Caedon Smeaton, and ANB won the opener 88-69.

ANB’s Kendrick Payton had the tournament’s first rebound and Perkins the first steal. Smeaton led all scorers with 21 points and Barragan added 19. Yakutat was led by Billy Brown’s 18 and Bigelow’s 17. ANB hit 5-11 at the charity stripe, Yakutat 7-9. ANB led 35-28 at the half.

In other action, Fairbanks ran over Sitka’s Harry Race 115-71 behind 58 points from Warren Rosegreen, including a dunk. Harry Bradley led Sitka with 25 points. Fairbanks notched 5-12 at the line, Sitka 2-3. Fairbanks led 61-31 at the half; Rosegreen had 29 of those points. And Wrangell picked apart Sitka’s Allen Marine 91-69 behind 18 points apiece from Dave Clark and Steve George. Jeremy Plank led Allen Marine with 15. Wrangell went 7-17 at the line, Sitka 5-7. Wrangell led 48-35 at the half behind Clark’s 15 points.
