TRUCK FIRE – Firefighters knock down a fire in a Ford Explorer truck in Arrowhead Trailer Park in the 1200 block of Sawmill Creek Road Saturday evening. One person received fire-related injuries and was taken to the hospital, Sitka Fire Department Chief Craig Warren said, and the truck was considered a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation, Warren said. The fire hall received the call about the fire at 5:33 p.m., and one fire engine with eight firefighters and an ambulance were dispatched, he said. (Sentinel Photo by James Poulson)

City Schedules Q&A On Hospital Agreement
By SHANNON HAUGLAND
Sentinel Staff Writer
The city will host a question and answer session Wednesday about the recently released Asset Purchase Agreement and Lease Agreement related to Sitka Community Hospital.
The APA lays out the terms under which the SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium will purchase the Sitka Community Hospital business, and assume health care for the entire community. The Lease Agreement is the document related to SEARHC’s lease of the community hospital building.
The meeting is 6 p.m. at Harrigan Centennial Hall and is open to the public.
City Administrator Keith Brady said the meeting will start with a presentation, followed by questions from the public. On the panel are Brady, consultants Sarah Cave and Steve Huebner, outside attorney Sandy Johnson, Sitka Community Hospital CEO Rob Allen, and Dan Neumeister, senior executive vice president of SEARHC.
The documents were released on the city web page on Friday; the Assembly is expected to make a decision at a special meeting 6 p.m. Monday, April 15. Brady said the SEARHC board is scheduled to take up the question April 23.
“I’m hoping for good questions, and a good dialogue,” Brady said of Wednesday’s session.
There are a number of blank pages in the APA, where schedules and exhibits are to be inserted later. Brady said the city is still in the due diligence process, and hopes to have most of the information available within the next two weeks.
“Some won’t be included until closing time,” he said.

Businesses using the Centennial Hall parking lot testified Tuesday against a proposal to charge them rent in addition to the $200 annual permit fee. City Administrator Hugh Bevan made the proposal in response to the Assembly’s direction to Centennial Hall manager Don Kluting to try to close the $340,000 gap between building revenues and operational costs.
