Sitka police logged the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
May 17
Police tracked down the owner of a wallet left at the Hames Center.
The ACO found that a dog reported barking on Lance Drive was barking at birds. Its owner was contacted.
At 2:16 p.m. a caller said his vehicle was hit by a tour bus at 200 Harbor. The bus driver returned and accident forms were given the drivers.
A resident reported being told a person in the caller’s driveway apparently was “tweaking.” An officer spoke to a man who showed signs of being under the influence but was able to care for himself.
At 6:11 p.m. a caller said the bear with one eye had just been on their porch on Jamestown Drive. It had gone into the woods, and the caller was to tell police if it returned.
At 10:51 a.m. a man who had a restricted license was seen in a parked vehicle. Officers spoke to the man, who said he didn’t have insurance. He said he’d get insurance and get the restrictions removed.
May 18
At 1:41 p.m. a caller said a girl, age 2 or 3, was trying to get into a car at 337 Lincoln but no adult was with her. Someone showed up for her while the caller was still on the line.
At 4:25 p.m. a caller said the door on a building at the foot bridge on Nelson Logging Road was ajar.
At 4:52 p.m. a hotel said a juvenile guest was in the lobby stating she’d been assaulted. A criminal trespass was signed against a female.
At 8:46 p.m. a caller said his son became angry, was damaging the residence and trying to injure a sibling. The son was taken to a hospital, and agreed to try to calm down.
At 10 p.m. a caller on DeGroff Street reported hearing fireworks being set off. Officers were advised.
At 10:22 p.m. a man was reported passed out in the 200 block of Lincoln Street. An officer found he was intoxicated but able to care for himself.
At 11 p.m. an officer found the restroom doors were open at Vilandre Field, and some damage done to the men’s.
May 19
At 2:33 a.m. people were reported climbing on top of container vans at 300 Lincoln Street. Officers were unable to locate them.
A driver hit a deer near Sandy Beach and the deer ran off, police were told at 8:10 a.m. Police issued a self report form for the vehicle damage.
Cash was found on Lakeview Drive was turned in.
An ambulance was called for a man who had fallen.
At 3:34 p.m. a couple admitted to smoking marijuana on a downtown street, but said they didn’t realize it was illegal. An officer advised them of the law.
At 4:53 p.m. a woman said she was run over by her ex. She refused an ambulance ride, but agreed to speak to officers for an investigation.
Rental mopeds were reported on the Cross Trail at 6:27 p.m. near Sitka High.
Fireworks were reported at 9:49 p.m. on Vitskari Street and later on Peter Simpson and Scarlett streets.
A resident lost his son’s ID.
At 11:45 p.m. a 911 caller reported two bears were getting into trash on Indian River Road, but they were gone before officers arrived. Police said they would patrol later as well.
May 20
At 12:04 a.m. a caller reported seeing a man snooping around a vehicle in the 1300 block of SMC but he was gone when police arrived.
At 4:03 a.m. a resident said her husband was threatening to throw away her belongings while she was out of the house. Police advised the husband of his options.
Sitka Police
Christopher D. Kodger, 52. was arrested on a Soldotna warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of violating conditions of release.
Jordan D. Lewis, 26, was charged Saturday night with driving under the influence, and cited for driving without a license.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received two emergency medical calls on Friday, five on Saturday and five on Sunday.
At 1 p.m. Sunday a fire truck was sent to 4 Sollars Trailer Court after an outlet shorted, but there was no fire and damage was limited to the outlet.

Michael Stringer, environmental specialist for Sitka Tribe of Alaska and a founder of the community garden, takes the concept of Earth Week literally. This weekend he hopes others will share his appreciation for “earth” and things growing in it by joining him in preparing the community garden just behind Blatchley Middle School for another growing season.
