Police Blotter

The following calls were received by 8 a.m. today:
June 25
A woman said she was receiving threats from her ex-husband about custody issues. An officer talked to the woman about the issue, which was deemed civil in nature, and she could take her child when she leaves town.
A bike rider said she’d been struck in the round-about, but no injuries or damage resulted.
At 9:07 a.m. a caller said a van was stuck in the mud on Sisters Lane. Attempts to reach the man who usually drives the van were unsuccessful.
At 10:58 a.m. a caller said a dog was lying in the road on Wachusetts Street and wasn’t moving. The caller  said it was sleeping and she couldn’t get it out of the road. Dispatch left a message with the owner, who called back and was advised of the situation.
At 1:42 p.m. a caller said a yellow tote bag had been left unattended for about an hour at the airport terminal. Airline employees said the janitorial crew would put in the lost and found. The bag didn’t contain anything of value, the report said.
A caller on Kaasda Heen Circle said that while he was walking his dog another dog was encountered and the two animals got into a little spat. Neither animal was injured, the caller said, but he would like to speak to the animal control officer about the incident.
At 5:13 p.m. a caller at a grocery store said young boys were asking her and other shoppers for money. An officer spoke to all involved, and while he was there one of the children found marijuana outside the women’s bathroom. It will be disposed of properly. Police contacted all the parents except those of one girl, who was taken home.
A caller said his kids found a camera in his backyard that doesn’t belong to him.
At 7:24 p.m. a caller reported trouble with her adult daughter, who was being verbally abusive. Officers spoke with the two and advised them of their options. The daughter agreed to stay somewhere else for the night.
A caller complained large construction vehicles parked at Arrowhead and Monastery streets were out in the roadway, causing a traffic problem. Officers said the vehicles were parked as far out of the way as they could, and there was still plenty of visibility.
At 9:09 p.m. a caller said a truck had hit the bridgeway to her Edgecumbe Drive home and no one appeared to be in it. Police said it appeared to have been a runway parked vehicle, and since the damage was under $200 the parties agreed to handle the matter civilly.
At 10:27 p.m. a caller said a loud black truck had been parking behind a trailer on Eagle Beach for the last several nights and the caller said drug activity might be going on.
At 10:51 p.m. a caller reported hearing gunshots from a residence in the 2900 block of HPR. Officers made contact with a man and woman at a residence, but found no signs of activity.
At 11:40 p.m. a caller on Cascade Creek Road reported hearing seven or eight gunshots coming from a house in the area. Officers patrolled the area but found no signs of a disturbance in the neighborhood.
June 26
At 12:54 a.m. a caller reported seeing a man walking downtown with a woman he was not to have contact with. Officers were unable to locate the couple.
   
Coast Guard
A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Sitka on Tuesday afternoon medevacked a woman who was experiencing serious health complications aboard the Ovation of the Seas in Frederick Sound near Kake. She was flown to Air Station Sitka and placed in the care of awaiting EMS, then transported to Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center in Sitka.
The woman was alert and responsive upon arriving at the hospital, but was reported to be in critical condition, the Coast Guard said.
The 1,138-foot Ovation of the Seas was headed from Skagway to Victoria, British Columbia.
