Police Blotter
    Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
October 11
    A woman reported a caller claimed to be from Juneau PD and needed her information regarding an old account. The woman told the caller to call Sitka PD, which they never did. Police said the number  of the caller likely was phished.
    At 8:46 a.m. a caller reported hearing what sounded like gunshots coming from behind Blatchley. Dispatch called the school and was told a class was shooting potato launchers.
    A caller on Granite Creek Road said tools were stolen from a work vehicle.
    At 10:36 a.m. a caller said a man had just beaten up her husband, who was now inside the home bleeding at the mouth but didn’t need medical care. An officer talked to all involved. The suspect said the victim had “ripped him off,” but wouldn’t say what was taken. The victim didn’t want to press charges, and the suspect left on foot.
    At 12:02 p.m. a caller said two men were fighting outside 405 SMC. A second caller gave the name of one of the men. Officers were told it was an argument, not physical. The men were told to separate for the rest of the day.
    A resident reported a phone call from a person claiming at first to be from Social Security then talking about drugs found in a car rented in 1982 in Texas (which the resident  denied ever doing) and saying the resident’s bank account was going to be seized.
    A caller said a bear took a garbage can from River’s Edge on Flume Circle down to the river, sometime between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
    A caller reported getting an automated message saying her internet was going to be canceled.
    Troopers reported possible domestic violence between a woman and her husband over possible abuse of a cat which was blinded in an accident.
    A caller reported an automatic message said his AT&T internet would be turned off and he needed to push a button to speak with a representative.
    At 6:54 p.m. a caller reported seeing an SUV drive up to a male on a bike and have a verbal altercation that included hostile words. The driver got out of the SUV and started to fight  with the bicyclist before driving away.  The caller said the bicyclist told her he didn’t want police called, that he wasn’t injured.
    At 7:24 p.m. a caller said while he was walking to his vehicle at Eliason Harbor a woman approached him and gave him a hug. The caller said he didn’t know her, and told officers she seemed under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He said as he left she told him she didn’t  have a place to stay for the night. She was gone when officers arrived
October 12
    At 1 a.m. a bartender said an intoxicated man had been kicked out of the bar several times but kept returning. Police took him to a hospital.
       A woman said she got a call from someone claiming to be from Publisher’s Clearing House. She told the person she couldn’t hear them very well on her cell phone and asked them to call her back at 747-3245. She wanted police to know they might  be getting a call.
    A caller said a car with a loud muffler goes up and down Darrin Drive all night.  Officers were advised.
    At 3 p.m. a caller said his daughter had left a SMC business without permission and disappeared. An officer located her at a home. The juvenile left while the mom was on her way to the home. An officer spoke to another relative about the consequences of harboring a runaway juvenile. The relative said he would call police or her parents if she returned.
    At 7 p.m. a man and woman  were reported yelling and pushing  each other.  Officers contacted the two and found they were able to care for themselves.
    At 8 p.m. a caller said a white bunny was in her yard and she was told the ACO wouldn’t be back until Monday. She said she was afraid the temp might drop and the bunny would freeze. She was advised of her options.
    At 10:18 p.m. the fire hall reported a party where minors might be  consuming. A 15-year-old was cited.
    At 11 p.m. a caller reported hearing screaming and yelling in a hostile manner from a group in the 200 block of Katlian. When officers arrived the group had left.
    At 11:44 p.m. a caller in the 4700 block of HPR reported seeing a bear near apartments. It ran into the woods, the caller said, but is often seen in that area.
October 13
    At 5:38 a.m. a Spruce Street caller reported noisy neighbors, a continuing issue. An officer was to speak to the neighbors if another call came in.
    At 7:37 a.m. a resident asked police to advise the Department of Transportation that the bridge is slippery.
    A caller said a bear got into trash cans in the 4700 block of HPR and became aggressive, going after people picking up the garbage. The caller was told to call in when the incident was occurring and the proper personnel would be advised.
    At 11:34 a.m. police were advised of a possibly drunk driver leaving a liquor store in a car.
    An ambulance was called for a person having a seizure.
    A caller reported gasoline was siphoned from a vehicle in the 2000 block of HPR.
    A woman said a drunk woman tried to enter her house, and possibly was the person who dropped an iPhone in the yard. The phone was claimed.
    At 3:08 p.m. a ferry official asked police to remove a loud and obnoxious woman from the premises. The woman was gone when police arrived, but she was to be served with a criminal trespass notice when police see her again.
    A 3:37 p.m. an Andrew P. Hope Street resident reported her neighbor’s many cats are damaging her greenhouse, and the neighbors were not receptive when she went there to speak to them about the problem. She was advised to contact the landlord about her problem with the cats. The ACO would contact here about her complaint.
    A case of drug abuse is being investigated.
    A name tag was turned in.
    At 6:50 p.m. a resident complained about a man dressed in black yelling at people as they passed in the 900 block of Lincoln Street. He said he wasn’t yelling, only singing to himself. He was given a disorderly conduct warning and advised of the consequences if police received more complaints about his behavior. He was intoxicated but deemed able to care for himself.
    At 5:33 p.m. a car rental business asked that the owner of a car parked in their lot be asked to leave. The vehicle owner said he thought he was in 7-day parking and would get the car moved immediately.
    At 7:25 p.m. a Lance Drive resident said a bear had been going through her trash for the past 10 minutes. The bear was gone when police arrived. Officers helped the resident clean up the area and reminded her of the bear ordinance in Sitka.
    Police responded to a second- hand report of a mother hitting her daughter in the arm. Officers spoke to both parties involved and determined no crime had been committed.
October 14
    At 12:18 a.m. a caller said she’d seen individuals moving items from one vehicle to another onLake Street, and it seemed suspicious. Officers determined no suspicious activity had taken place.
    The fire department at 4 a.m. asked for police help dealing with an intoxicated woman who showed up at the front door of the fire hall. Police escorted her home.
    At 4:41 a.m. a resident said she believed she heard someone trying to steal her car in the Indian River subdivision. Police asked her to see if anyone was in the car. She did, and there wasn’t.

Sitka Police
    Chandler Kadake, 21, was charged Saturday with disorderly conduct.
    Nathan Coble, 39, was arrested Sunday for violating conditions of release for allegedly being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Emergency Calls
    Sitka Fire Department dispatched two ambulances Friday, five Saturday and two on Sunday.
