Al-Anon Meeting
Time Change
Al-Anon has changed its meeting time. As of Nov. 7, the group meets noon Thursdays in the basement of the Sitka Lutheran Church.
The Al-Anon Family groups are a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength, and hope, in order to solve their common problems, group organizers said. It believes alcoholism is a family illness, and that changed attitudes can aid recovery.

Sitka Kaagwaantaan will meet 3 p.m. Sunday in Room 114 at Blatchley Middle School. Entrance is through the back door. The meeting is to practice songs, story-telling and planning for a naming ceremony.

Strengthening Families Open Gym events are held 1-3 p.m. Nov. 10, 17 and 24 at Blatchley Middle School. Tribal citizens, STA staff and their families can meet in the multipurpose room.

Island Artists
All are invited to join Island Artists Gallery artists at the Fall Artwalk 5-8 p.m. Nov. 29.
‘‘Art is a Journey and our artists are excited to share new travels, new directions and new work with fellow Sitkans,’’ the gallery said.
Janet Berlin will display photographs from her travels along Route 66. Pat Kehoe will bring new watercolors from Newfoundland to the Gallery. Auriella Hughes has new pottery creations fresh from the firing. Sarah Winfield will feature her silver bracelets. Amy Sweeney has new hand-painted purses and bags. Liz Faulkner has a line of new ammonite jewelry to show.
Jim Kirkness has a basket weave illusion series of wooden bowls and Cass Pook will offer her beaded jewelry. David Gross will offer new acrylic paintings, and Helen Mercado has painted drums along with beaded jewelry.
Linda Janacek will show her moccasins and beaded works, and Roberta White will display her Sitka photographs.
Wildlife photographs will be displayed by Dan Kilkeary, and Jay Sweeney has new turned pens and darts. Barb Bingham’s lightcatchers and Kate Cluff’s stained glass pieces will be offered, as well as Catherine Weaver’s dichroic glass jewelry and Doug Dabrowski’s cast silver jewelry.
Amelia Mosher will show her collection of handmade jewels and accessories and Cayla Pook has macramé jewelry and art pieces. Marcus Lee will showcase his metal works.
New consignment art includes paintings by Frances Braun, prints from Steve Lawrie and Nora Skeele, jewelry created by Joella and Cloe Turner, and whimsical work from Jan Steinbright along with Jerry Wright’s fish prints and hand-painted silk scarves by Lori Lang. Raven will display her hats and stickers.
The gallery will feature special prices on individual artist’s work for the tax-free Artwalk and Small Business Saturday on Nov. 29 and 30. It is located at 205 Lincoln Street. Many of the artists will attend, and appetizers and libations will be offered.
Stride 365 Run,
Walk for BHV
The Stride 365 5k run/walk for Brave Heart Volunteers is planned 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. Registration is at 9 a.m. at the O’Connell Bridge lightering facility.

Brave Heart Bowls
Event on Nov. 21
The annual Brave Heart Bowls event will be 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at Harrigan Centennial Hall.
Soup, bowls, chairs and auction items all support Brave Heart’s work in the community.
The cost is $20 for adults, $10 for under 10, and free for those under 5 and over 90. Tickets will be available at Old Harbor Books and at the door.
