Police Blotter
    Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
December 10
    A hotel said a thief had broken into the laundry room and stolen coins from the machines.
    A stalking order was denied.
    A gas station said a driver had left without paying. Dispatch called the vehicle owner, who said her husband had been driving the vehicle and she would go to the gas station to straight it out.
    At 3:27 p.m. a caller on Andrew P. Hope Street said someone jiggled her house door handle but she had not looked out to see who it was. Officers patrolled the area and saw nothing suspicious.
    At 3:48 p.m. a caller said an impaired woman, possibly in need of help, was walking inbound on SMC. A trooper contacted her on Jarvis Street and she was fine.
    At 3:55 p.m. a 911 caller said a man was yelling racial slurs and being disruptive in a downtown restaurant. He left while the caller was on the line, and police were to be called if he returned.
    At 4 p.m. dispatch received a domestic violence order to be served.
    At 6 p.m. a caller said he was walking in a wooded area between the Raptor Center and the Park Service entrance when his dog got all freaked out and he could hear what might be a bear crashing through the woods.
    At 9:41 p.m. a caller reported hearing what sounded like a woman screaming in the woods off Jarvis Street. Officers found a couple camping and it appeared their tent had collapsed on them. The two also said they’d been arguing over some missing items. Officers gave them a disorderly conduct warning.
    At 9:49 p.m. a caller asked for a welfare check on a homeless man who’s being checked on. The caller said the man had been making more disturbing statements than usual, and his mental health issues were worsening. Officers were advised.
    At 10 p.m. medical center staff members asked officers to help with a patient becoming violent.
    At 11 p.m. a caller said she and her son had been at the bridge taking photos when a dark blue Jeep Liberty pulled up and the two male occupants yelled racial slurs at them before driving off. The caller said she’d been frightened because she didn’t know if they were going to be attacked. She was told the men appeared to be doing this around town to others.
    At 11:37 p.m. a caller said a man and woman in the woods off Jarvis Street were screaming again.


Sitka Police
    Barbara Deakle, 53, was charged with disorderly conduct late Tuesday.

Emergency Calls
    Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 2:19 p.m. Tuesday and 6:52 a.m. today.
