LUTHERAN QUILTERS – Members of the Quilts for Comfort Group stand between pews draped with some of the 205 quilts they made, in the Sitka Lutheran Church Tuesday. The group made the quilts for five local non-profits and one in Anchorage. Sitka Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today.
February 12
A caller asked for a welfare check on a family member who had said he was going to call an ambulance because he’d drunk too much, but hadn’t called. The man provided a .264 PBT and was taken to the hospital.
At 3:16 p.m. a 911 caller reported a traffic accident with damage at a filling station.
At 6 p.m. a caller said a man was standing outside a church yelling to himself. Officers were advised.
At 7:40 p.m. a caller said a man and woman were arguing in a nearby apartment. An officer detained the man while investigating the complaint. The woman denied anything happened and she didn’t need help.
At 10:23 p.m. a caller said she’d been told a relative wanted to harm herself. An officer investigated and found the woman didn’t need any assistance. She said she’d made a comment only out of frustration.

William Allery, 29, was charged with four counts of assault in the fourth degree Wednesday night.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received two ambulance calls Wednesday.
At 5:16 p.m. Wednesday an engine was sent to 701 Indian River Road where burned food had caused alarm but no fire.
