3 More Sitka Residents Test Positive for COVID

Three new positive tests for COVID-19 were received from public health officials over the weekend, Unified Command reported today. All three are residents.
The number of cumulative resident cases is now at 45; and nonresident cases remain at 17. There has been one cumulative hospitalization.
One confirmed case was a man age 40 to 49, and asymptomatic. He was tested September 16, and received his test result on September 18.
The second was a woman, age 50 to 59, who was asymptomatic and was tested on September 18. Her result was returned on September 19.
The third was a man age 40 to 49 who was symptomatic. He was tested on September 18 and received the positive test result on September 20.
All patients are isolating. Public health officials conducted contact tracing, and are notifying and isolating additional people who have been in contact with the confirmed cases, a representative from Unified Command said.
The COVID-19 dashboard lists three current active cases, and a 14-day rolling case rate of .36. Sitka remains at the “yellow” or “low” alert level, the lowest of the three levels.
The Sitka school district and Mt. Edgecumbe High School also are at the lowest risk levels, including with the last three positive test results.
