Police Blotter
The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
April 14
At 7:28 a.m. a caller complained about his neighbor’s noisy muffler. Police gave the driver a warning.
At 2:15 p.m. a caller reported seeing a bear at Keet Gooshi Heen school, and didn’t want it disturbing the students as they left campus. The bear was gone when officers arrived.
A woman asked for help for her daughter, who was getting harassing and threatening text messages from an ex-boyfriend. Police said the daughter would need to talk to officers herself.
A caller said a woman who was in a clinic in Anchorage had complained that her son was harassing her in the clinic. Police talked to the son.
A fish finder was reported stolen.
Police checked on a report a man was being aggressive toward his wife, and found no evidence of a crime. The two agreed to separate for the night.
At 8:58 p.m. a caller reported a couple arguing at the HPR traffic light. Officers gave the two warnings.
At 10:10 p.m. a resident reported a dog barks every night at the same time for 20 minutes on Cascade Creek Road.
An abandoned bike was picked up on Moller Field.
Sitka Police
Tracee Harrington, 34, was charged with driving with a revoked license.
James Hefley, 23, was charged with assault in the fourth degree (domestic violence) on Monday.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 4:55 and 5:24 p.m. Monday. At 2:30 p.m. Monday a fire truck was sent to Allen Hall on the SJ campus, where a sprinkler had gone off. Firefighters shut off the water and reset the alarm.
Coast Guard
Rescues Logger
A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka helicopter medevacked a man who had suffered a head injury at a logging camp on an island at the end of the Cleveland Peninsula, 35 miles north of Ketchikan.
The Coast Guard said the patient would likely be flown to Ketchikan.
