The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
April 16
A caller asked for a welfare check on a client, who turned out to be intoxicated when police arrived. The client agreed to take a nap and sober up before leaving her apartment.
At 10:15 a.m. an intoxicated man was reported passed out in a warehouse doorway downtown. The man was taken into protective custody.
A Wolff Drive caller said two dirty diapers were left outside her residence.
A caller said a driver who isn’t disabled was parked in a blue space. Police left a message for the driver.
A woman said her neighbor’s dog attacked her dog as it was being walked on a leash. Police gave the owner of the dog that attacked a warning.
Six vehicles were tagged as abandoned at Eliason Harbor, one at Thomsen Harbor, one at the airport, one at Crescent Harbor and one ANB Harbor.
An earring was found at the court.
At 7:35 p.m. an employer said the estranged husband of an employee was calling her at work, and had called 10 to 15 times in a single night. The man told officers he was responding to text messages from his estranged wife. He was advised not to call her at work.
At 10:44 p.m. a caller said a man was burning trash in his backyard with the radio turned up in the 700 block of Indian River Road. Police gave the man a warning, and advised him to turn down the music and not to put any more items in the fire.
In Court
Leonard C. Nielsen, 52, was found to have violated probation. His probation was extended by 120 days. A charge of criminal trespass in the second degree was dismissed.
Paula A. Salte, 65, was sentenced to 20 days, suspended, for driving with a revoked license. She is to perform 80 hours of community work service, and she will be on probation for a year.
Kristopher A. Foster, 37, was sentenced to 40 days, with 30 suspended, and fined $500, suspended, for driving with a revoked license. He was sentenced to 10 days for violating conditions of release. He will be on probation for two years. He was fined $3,000, with $1,500 suspended, for retaining an undersized king salmon; he was sentenced to 30 days, with 20 suspended, and fined $3,000, with $1,500 suspended, for wasting salmon. He is to forfeit the salmon to the state.
Emergency Calls
The Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 11:55 a.m., 1:53 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Orders to Appear
The following were ordered to appear for a hearing 4 p.m. May 15 at the courthouse to explain to the judge why they didn’t appear for jury service as instructed during the April, May and June 2014 term. Those who wish to reschedule their jury service may call the clerk at 747-3291.
They are Glen Jones, Jacey L. Nelson, Joyce J. Merculief-Barker, Brenda Climer, Clyde W. Young and Emily Suzanne Davis.
The following were ordered to appear at 4 p.m. May 15 to explain why they didn’t complete and return the jury questionnaires sent to them for the April, May and June 2014 term. If they complete the form and return it to the courthouse before the hearing date, they will not be required to attend the hearing.
