July 14, 2014 Police Blotter

The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
July 11
A boat was broken into at Eliason Harbor. The owner said he wanted to press charges against a suspect.
A bear was reported on Georgeson Loop.
At 8:51 a.m. a bear was reported in the 2500 block of HPR.
A dog found floating near Crescent Harbor may have been a failed attempt at a burial at sea, harbors said. The carcass was disposed of.
A caller said a noisy rooster had gotten out in the Indian River subdivision. The owner said he would try to catch it.
A Huffy bike and an Aviator mountain bike were reported stolen from the Gavan Hill Trail entrance.
A Dodge hit a Jeep in the 1300 block of SMC Road. A driver was cited.
A maroon Raleigh bike was reported stolen from a Kirkman Drive yard.
At 5:20 p.m. a caller asked police to check on a woman possibly having a  fight with a man. Officers warned both but found no evidence of a crime.
A caller said a woman was crying in a pickup in the 800 block of HPR. Police gave warnings for open containers but saw no women in the area.
A bicycle rider said he was hit by a car, and the driver gave him $40. Police said the agreement made it a civil issue.
July 12
A man sleeping on library property at 8 a.m. agreed to elsewhere.
At 11:53 a.m. caller reported a possible drug deal under way in the 200 block of Katlian Street.
A woman said she lost a clear dry bag on Katlian Street or HPR. Inside were rain pants, a jacket and books.
A resident said a couple of guns and other items were stolen from his house.
A man said his child’s foster parent was intoxicated. Police saw no indication that the foster father was impaired.
Officers got a taxi for a woman passed out in a vehicle downtown.
A man said his mother had beaten him up. Police found no evidence of a crime but noted the man had scabbing on his face and fresh blood on his lip.
A caller reported a loud party on Lillian Drive at 11:30 p.m.
Bears were reported Saturday night on Granite Creek; 12:31 a.m. on Darrin Drive; 1:15 a.m. on Jamestown Drive; 6 a.m. on Cascade Creek Road; and 10:45 a.m. on Kincroft,
July 13
Two men with flashlights were seen in a Price Street back yard. The men said they were supposed to meet someone but no one would answer the door.
At 2:47 a.m. a man was reported yelling outside a residence on Marine Street. The man said he had been in a fight but didn’t need medical attention.
At 11:47 a.m. a woman said her son had threatened to harm himself. Police found no sign of the son.
A wallet and an iPhone 4 were reported missing.
A few calls were received about loud talking in the 3200 block of HPR.
Police gave a warning to a resident  talking loudly on Flume Circle.
July 14
A man was reported unable to care for himself on Indian River Road at 12:22 a.m. His brother agreed to care for him, and they walked home.
A bear was reported in a Georgeson Loop driveway at 12:19 a.m.
A caller asked for a check on a man sleeping in a vehicle at 5:24 a.m. The man was intoxicated but walked home to find someone to move his vehicle from a grocery store parking lot.

 

Sitka Police
Ronald Deguzman, 49, was arrested Friday for criminal trespass in the second degree.
Dawn McClung, 48, was arrested Saturday for violating conditions for allegedly being late for her breath test.
Elsa J. Hernandez, 57, was cited Sunday for failing to have a valid license and proof of insurance.
Levi P. Larson, 20, was cited today for minor consuming.

Emergency Calls
The Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 12:44 p.m. Friday, 8:17 a.m. Saturday and 2:17 p.m. Sunday.
At 6:24 p.m. Friday a fire truck was sent to Mt. Edgecumbe High after burnt toast set off the alarm.

Coast Guard
A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka helicopter medevacked a 74-year-old woman with a broken femur from Hoonah to Juneau.
