The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
July 14
At 8:55 a.m. a traffic accident was reported on Jarvis Street.
A hotel employee said a check was written on a closed bank account.
At 11:26 a.m. a bear was reported on Herb Didrickson Street. The caller said the bear goes into the bushes, then comes out and walks around the house. Police saw no bear when they arrived, although it came back at 11:55 p.m.
A trespass notice was served.
At 4:21 p.m. a traffic accident was reported on Lincoln Street.
A hospital worker asked police to take a woman into protective custody after she threatened to harm herself. The woman told police she was fine.
A Lincoln Street store employee signed a criminal trespass notice.
A resident said she found a cable stretching from her cable box to a nearby trailer, and suspected neighbors were stealing internet service from her. The neighbors said they didn’t know anything about the cable. Police gave them a warning.
A set of keys found on Edgecumbe Drive was turned in.
A 911 caller said a dog scared his wife and daughter as they got home.
July 15
At 2:31 a.m. a caller reported a fight on Davidoff Street. Police found an intoxicated man screaming, gave him a disorderly conduct warning, and told him to go home for the night.
At 5 a.m. a caller reported a bear swimming across Swan Lake. Police found no bear in the area. The bear was reported later at Sitka High School. Alaska Wildlife Troopers were advised of the bear’s activities.
At 5:21 a.m. a caller reported someone was smoking drugs in a vehicle on Kaagwaantaan Street. Police were unable to locate the man or his vehicle.
Bear tracks and strewn trash were found on Lance Drive at 6:38 a.m.
At 6:43 a.m. a resident reported a bear on the Cross Trail.
In Court
Amber C. Doyle, 29, was found to have violated conditions of probation and her probation was extended until July 2, 2015.
Sarah E. Kunaknana-Ahyakak, 22, was sentenced to 45 days, with 42 suspended, and fined $1,500 for driving under the influence. She will be on probation for a year and is to complete treatment. Her driver’s license will be revoked for 90 days.
Emergency Calls
The Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 11:20 a.m., 12:38 p.m., 12:58 p.m., 1:47 p.m., 5:05 p.m., 6:02 p.m. and 10:02 p.m. Monday.
Coast Guard
A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka helicopter Monday morning medevacked a 15-month-old girl from Angoon to Sitka.
