LUTHERAN QUILTERS – Members of the Quilts for Comfort Group stand between pews draped with some of the 205 quilts they made, in the Sitka Lutheran Church Tuesday. The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
Aug. 22
At 10:36 a.m. a 911 caller asked for an ambulance for a woman who had injured her leg in a fall at Eliason Harbor.
A caller asked if an envelope with a bill for his dentist had been turned in.
An HPR business reported the theft of a large amount of money.
A man said his significant other had told him she’d received bad news and was in the woods. She was found at the Block House and left in the man’s care.
A man was given a disorderly conduct warning after getting into a dispute with a woman.
At 9 p.m. a man spoke with an officer about an assault at a harbor.
At 8:18 p.m. a caller said her roommate wasn’t letting her finish her laundry and was yelling at her. Officers gave both parties a warning.
At 9:30 p.m. a caller complained about a party on Edgecumbe Drive. Officers found loud music and talking, and gave the entire party a warning.
At 11 p.m. a 911 caller said a man was threatening him and asked for an officer to come to the home. Officers determined the caller was intoxicated and the other man was sober and hadn’t made any criminal threats.
At 11:22 p.m. a caller reported a woman near a bar with those around her causing a commotion. An officer saw her being helped into a vehicle.
At 11:45 p.m. a caller on Indian River Road said her bedroom window was slammed open but she saw no one in the house or outside. Officers found the screen was still on the window.
Aug. 23
At 7 a.m. a caller reported a Ninja Turtle lunch pail had been left at the airport terminal.
An Edgecumbe Drive resident reported her house had been egged around 1 a.m., and she had heard female voices.
At 11 a.m. several cars parked in the 200 block of Katlian were reported disrupting traffic. Officers called owners. Two of them moved the vehicles, the other five were cited.
At 5 p.m. a caller said her son was creating a disturbance in the neighborhood. Officers spoke with the son, who agreed to go to the hospital.
At 6 p.m. a caller complained of a noisy party on Smith Street. The partyers agreed to lower the volume.
At 7 p.m. a caller reported a disturbance at Eliason Harbor. Officers gave a man and woman warnings.
At 9:26 p.m. a caller reported a woman running into things, yelling, vomiting, and starting all over again. Officers found the woman was intoxicated but able to care for herself.
At 9:39 p.m. an officer reported smoke from the UAS harbor area. Police found a bonfire on the UAS dock.
At 11 p.m. police left a message for the owner of a motorcycle parked under the bridge for two nights that no overnight parking was allowed there.
Aug. 24
At 12:21 a.m. a bartender said a man was giving her trouble. Officers contacted the man and warned him he could be arrested if he didn’t leave the bar premises when asked to do so.
At 3 a.m. a caller said two males and a female were near her house yelling and screaming profanities. Officers found were all were intoxicated, and gave them warnings.
At 3:35 a.m. a suspicious person was reported at Blatchley. An officer spoke to a man who was hanging doors, trying to get finished before school starts.
At 4:32 a.m. a caller said he saw two men pulling a woman into the women’s bathroom at Eliason Harbor, and although the woman wasn’t fighting it didn’t appear she was going willingly. Officers spoke with three men and a woman in the bathroom and all were intoxicated. The men were able to care for themselves, but the woman was in and out of consciousness and vomiting. EMS took her to the hospital.
A caller said a black iPhone 4 that had been on his boat was missing and when he called the number the person who answered said he would leave it at the harbor office, but hadn’t done so.
Aug. 25
At 1:13 a.m. a caller reported an attempted burglary on Biorka Street, with a man taking a radio off a boat. Officers spoke to three people matching the description and found no evidence of a crime.
Sitka Police
Steven M. Parvin, 29, was charged with driving under the influence and driving with a revoked license early Sunday.
Sigurd Rutter, 59, was cited for urinating in public Friday.
Alexander R. Schwantes, 21, was cited for urinating in public early Saturday.
In Court
Lynda Love Olsen, 36, on a charge of violating conditions of release pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 90 days, suspended. She will be on probation a year. Two counts of disorderly conduct were dismissed without prejudice.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 9:06 a.m., 10:40 a.m., 11:22 a.m., 1 p.m., 3:36 p.m. and 9:08 p.m. Friday; 11:40 a.m. Saturday; at 12:54 a.m. and 12:23 p.m. Sunday; and at 12:57 a.m. and 3:56 a.m. today.
At 4:58 p.m. Saturday, a fire alarm sounded at Mt. Edgecumbe High School but there was no fire.
