The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
Oct. 21
A Uniden Atlantis 250 radio with DoD on it was found on the Pioneers Home lawn at 8 a.m. It will be turned in to police if not claimed by the owner.
A man said his vehicle had been gone through in the seven-day parking area at the airport, sometime in the last two weeks.
A resident reported missing 60 to 70 gold coins from her residence in the 2300 block of HPR sometime in the last six to eight months.
At 4 p.m. a driver said a bicyclist had run into his truck while he was backing up in the 600 block of HPR. The bicyclist told the driver that he was not hurt.
At 9:26 p.m. a woman said her teenage daughter ran away from home and was staying at a man’s apartment. Police went to the apartment to talk to the girl, and gave the man a warning about contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was advised not to have the girl at his home anymore.
At 10:16 p.m. a man asked police to document an accident in which his vehicle rolled into some trees on Tongass Avenue.
At 11:11 p.m. an intoxicated woman unable to care for herself in a grocery store was taken into protective custody.
In Court
Shane M. Hargus, 24, was sentenced to 90 days, with 80 suspended, and fined $1,000, with $750 suspended, for criminal mischief (property damage $250 to $749). He may serve his time through finishing 80 hours of community work service. He is to pay $716 in restitution, and will be on probation for two years. He is to stay away from a particular restaurant in Sitka. He is to complete a substance abuse evaluation and follow counseling recommendations.
Emergency Calls
The Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 9:56 a.m., 4:31 p.m., 6:21 p.m. and 9:39 p.m. Tuesday.
