The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
Dec. 10
A dog owner was told to shorten the dog run tether after the dog lunged at and scratched a boy on Etolin Street.
An aggressive cat was taken to the shelter from McConkey Street.
An intoxicated man in the Crescent Harbor restrooms was given a warning, and sent on his way.
A green leather wallet containing credit cards, ID and $8 was lost.
At 5:19 p.m. a vehicle was reported in a ditch in the 3400 block of HPR. A tow truck pulled it out.
At 5:38 p.m. the police rescue boat was sent to the southeast end of the runway, where a boat was reported stalled and sinking. (See story, Page 1.)
At 6:11 p.m. a boat fire was reported in Sealing Cove, but there was no fire, just a small amount of smoke.
At 7:17 p.m. airlines officials said a man was refusing to leave the terminal. Police gave him a warning, and he left the area on foot.
At 10:59 p.m. a man and woman were reported arguing loudly in the 700 block of HPR. Officers found no one.
At 11 p.m. a woman said a man in dark clothing was running around her property and hiding behind cars in the 1100 block of HPR.
Dec. 11
At 1:43 a.m. an intoxicated man was reported threatening a homeowner taking out his garbage in the 1500 block of HPR. He was gone when police checked.
At 5:27 a.m. a Monastery Street resident reported his elderly neighbor was banging on his wall, and might need help. No one answered the door when police arrived.
In Court
Charges of driving under the influence, refusing a breath test and driving with an expired registration were dismissed against Hilloah H. Courtney, 58.
A charge of theft in the fourth degree was dismissed against Laura L. Bern, 63.
Emergency Calls
The Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 9:24 and 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
At 5:23 p.m. Wednesday a fire truck and an ambulance were sent to 3316 HPR on a minor car accident. No help was needed.
At 5:34 p.m. Wednesday the emergency rescue boat was sent to the southeast end of the runway on a report of a boat sinking. (See story, Page 1.)
At 6:08 p.m. Wednesday a fire truck was sent to Sealing Cove Harbor on a possible boat fire, which turned out to be just smoke coming out of the chimney. There was no fire, the police department said.

Responding to the requests of athletes, coaches and parents, the Sitka School Board voted unanimously Monday against a proposal that would have changed Sitka High School’s classification from Class 4A, which includes Juneau and Ketchikan, to the 3A, which has schools with enrollment of 100 to 400 students.

Memories of Sitka’s first radio station have been revived by a St. Louis, Mo., man who was one of the founders. Fred A. Wiethuchter recently wrote a letter to “Mayor Sitka, Alaska” asking about the town since he was here during World War II. He was an Army private at Fort Ray when he was attached to Armed Services Radio Station KRAY and WVCX ....
