Police Blotter
The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
Dec. 16
A caller said a hubcap was stolen in the airport parking lot.
At 10:06 a.m. a caller reported a yellow Lab was killing chickens on Monastery Street. An officer found feathers, but no chicken carcasses or dog.
A subpoena was faxed from Juneau to Sitka to be served.
At 12:30 p.m. a caller said kids were riding bikes in the road on Highland Drive. Police advised the youths and their parents of the complaint.
At 12:54 p.m. a resident asked for help with an intoxicated man talking at a church about harming himself. The man was taken to the hospital.
Police were unable to locate the owner of a gray Specialized Hardrock bike left at the police station.
At 4:23 p.m. a caller said he had lost his gray laptop bag with several items at the airport. He called back later to say airport employees had found it, but but his medications were missing from inside.
At 5:58 p.m. a woman reported finding a note on her car in the 300 block of Lincoln Street, saying it had been hit. Police documented the accident and gave the owner a self-report form.
In Court
Jason A. Bowers, 25, was found to have violated conditions of probation. He is to continue staying at Aurora’s Watch at the direction of his probation officer. His probation was extended by 59 days.

Michael Stringer, environmental specialist for Sitka Tribe of Alaska and a founder of the community garden, takes the concept of Earth Week literally. This weekend he hopes others will share his appreciation for “earth” and things growing in it by joining him in preparing the community garden just behind Blatchley Middle School for another growing season.
