LUTHERAN QUILTERS – Members of the Quilts for Comfort Group stand between pews draped with some of the 205 quilts they made, in the Sitka Lutheran Church Tuesday. The group made the quilts for five local non-profits and one in Anchorage. Sitka Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today.
May 18
A set of keys was reported lost.
A black Canon 511 camera in a black case was reported lost.
A church signed a trespass form.
A woman said a person claiming to be her grandson had called and told her an attorney would be contacting her. She told police she knew it was a scam.
A caller sought a trespass order to keep a man out of a trailer court.
A minor traffic accident was reported in the 1800 block of HPR at 8 p.m.
At 9:27 p.m. a fight was reported in a Cascade Creek Road apartment. Police, unable to determine who was the primary aggressor, gave two people a warning. The two agreed to separate.
At 9:51 p.m. a caller said a man threw a woman’s purse on the ground, then pulled her pants down when she bent to pick it up. Police gave the man a harassment warning, and both agreed to go home for the night.
At 10:40 p.m. an intoxicated man walking to his boat in Thomsen Harbor was taken into protective custody.
At 10:55 p.m. a loud fight was reported on DeArmond Street. Police talked to four intoxicated people but found no sign of a crime. Charges of probation violation will be forwarded for one of those involved.
May 19
A theft was reported.
Sitka Police
Kristopher Foster, 39, was arrested Monday for violating conditions of release and driving with a revoked license.
Nathan A. Moore, 32, was arrested Monday for driving with a suspended license.
In Court
Denika M. Bragg, 25, was sentenced to 10 days, suspended, and fined $500, with $350 suspended, for each of two counts of driving without a license. She was sentenced to 10 days, suspended, for violating conditions of release. She will be on probation for a year.
A charge of theft in the fourth degree was dismissed against Jamie L. Kane, 25.
Charges of disorderly conduct and criminal mischief in the fifth degree were dismissed against Alexander A. Allison, 43.
Emergency Calls
The Sitka Fire Department dispatched an ambulance at 9:12 a.m. Monday.
At 4:05 p.m. Monday a fire truck was sent to a house fire (see story).
