The following calls were received by Sitka police by 8 a.m. today:
Oct. 1
A man reported someone broke out his taillights on Lance Drive.
At 8:12 a.m. trash cans were reported tipped over on Lance Drive. Police found cans knocked over but no trash.
A brown Trek bike was reported stolen from the SJ campus.
At 8:41 a.m. a woman was seen striking a child in the face while she was driving down the street. Police found no sign of a crime but reported the incident to the Office of Children’s Services.
At 11:39 a.m. a man was reported screaming at a woman. She told officers there was no problem. The man received a disorderly conduct warning.
A hit and run accident was documented.
Eight people reported an attempted phone scam, with callers claiming to be from the IRS. The eight were given the ic3.gov site for reporting the crime.
A water main break was reported at Kirkman and Kaagwaantaan streets, around 2 p.m. The water department responded.
At 3:05 p.m. a resident saw gas or diesel leaking off the back of a truck at the roundabout but didn’t get the license number. Officers were advised.
At 3:36 p.m. a woman reported a man shoplifting at her store. He paid for the items, and got a criminal trespass warning not to return to the store.
Police are investigating a report of drug abuse.
Police were unable to locate a dead animal reported at the side of the road at Indian River and Sawmill Creek roads.
At 11:20 p.m. police checked on a report of a man who had been lying on the side of the road had then ran into a bar. He agreed to leave with a friend.
Sitka Police
Terrell G. Charles, 65, and Robin A. Lee, 54, were arrested Thursday on charges of criminal trespass in the second degree.
Jason A. Bowers, 25, was arrested on a probation violation Thursday for allegedly consuming alcohol and being in a bar.
