BBSC Swimmers Fare Well in Juneau

The Baranof Barracudas Swim Club placed third in a field of 21 teams at a state meet held in Juneau recently.
BBSC swimmers also broke two club records.
Jessica Davis set a new BBSC mark in the 100 fly, breaking a record that had been held by Chelsea Colliver since 1992. Davis swam 1:07.63. Colliver’s record, two decades old, was 1:07.97.
Davis was the top point scorer in the 11-year-old girls competition.
The BBSC’s 200 medley relay record for the 11-12 girls age group was broken by Skylar Moore, Jessica Davis, Whitney McArthur, and Ashlyn Nutting. The squad swam 2:10.00
Several BBSC swimmers placed in the top 10 in the “high point” competition for their respective age groups. Results are listed below.
Coaches Kevin Knox, Nicki McArthur, and Tracie Harang said they were  “thrilled” with the performances posted by the BBSC swimmers.
“Many hours of practice gets condensed into each race, and each of the kids raced fabulous at this meet,” the coaches said in an email. “It is especially exciting to see kids dropping time both in preliminary events, then later that same day in finals.”
