Planning Panel OKs Variance, Rental Permit

The Sitka Planning Commission Tuesday approved a variance for the construction of a shop adjacent to a home on Lakeview Drive and gave the nod to a short term rental conditional use permit on Harbor Mountain Road.

On a 3-0 vote, the commission granted a variance for a side setback reduction to Tim Fulton, who said he wants to build a new shop and storage shed next to his home on Lakeview Drive.

Fulton has an existing structure on the property that will be torn down.

The commission also voted 3-0 to recommend approval of a conditional use permit for a short-term rental on Harbor Mountain Road.

The permit, granted to Ernestine Massey, will go to the Assembly for final approval.
