Murkowski, Alaska's senior senator and a member of the Senate's Republican majority, plans to meet with the designated community representatives for the round table 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 19 at Harrigan Centennial Hall.

The visit to Sitka will come the day after Murkowski is to make her annual address to the Legislature in Juneau.

Murkowski press officer Joseph Plesha announced plans for the senator's trip to Sitka in a phone call to the Sentinel from Washington this morning. He said details of the round table are still being arranged, but so far the list of those invited are Sitka's mayor, the chairman of Sitka Tribe of Alaska, the CEO of Shee Atika Inc., the heads of the Sitka Conservation Society and Sitka Trail Works, and the director of the Sitka Chamber of Commerce. The deputy supervisor of the U.S. Forest Service in Juneau is also invited to attend, Plesha said.

He said Murkowski has set aside time to meet with news reporters from the Sentinel and KCAW following the round table, and also plans a visit to the Coast Guard while she is here.
