SSMF Week
Preview Set
Music educator Susan Reed will host a free one-hour discussion at Stevenson Hall, 104 Jeff Davis Street, 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 23.
Reed will talk about the music and performers that will be featured in the fourth week of the festival. More information is at 747-6774.
Cafe Concert
Set Wednesday
Sitka Summer Music Festival musicians will perform at the Dock Cafe 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 24.
The Arianna String Quartet and pianists David Wiley will perform. More information is at sitkamusicfestival.org.
Bach’s Lunch

The Sitka Summer Music Festival will present a free lunchtime concert 12:30 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at Centennial Hall.
The Arianna String Quartet and pianist David Wiley will perform pieces by Grieg and Barber, plus a piece with West African influences. More information is at sitkamusicfestival.org
Movie Night Set
The Sitka Summer Music Festival will present the musical movie ‘‘Before Sunrise’’ 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at Centennial Hall.
Charlie Chaplin’s film ‘‘Gold Rush’’ will be shown. In addition, festival pianist David Wiley will discuss and perform examples of musical accompaniments for silent films. The suggested donation is $5. More information is at sitkamusicfestival.org
Evening Concert
Set for Friday
The final evening concert of the Sitka Summer Music Festival is 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 26, at Centennial Hall.
The Arianna String Quartet, cellist Zuill Bailey, and pianist David Wiley will perform a Mozart piano quartet and a Beethoven string quintet. Tickets are available at Old Harbor Books, online at sitkamusicfestival.org or at the door.
SSMF Brunch
Set for June 28
The Sitka Summer Music Festival will present an intimate brunch and concert in a waterfront home Sunday, June 28.
The Arianna String Quartet and cellist Zuill Bailey will perform Schubert’s cello quintet. Tickets are $100, limited to 40 people, and must be purchased in advance at Old Harbor Books, online at sitkamusicfestival.org, or at the door of other festival events.
The location and directions will be given to ticket-holders. More information is at 747-6774.
Art Show Set
‘‘Views from the Heights,’’ a show of mountain landscapes by Libby Stortz, will be shown upstairs at Ludvig’s Wine Bar and Art Gallery.

LGBTQ to Meet
Sitkans are invited to socialize and share snacks 1-3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 28 at the Manager’s House of the Pioneers Home. Sitka Spectrum (LGBTQIA and Friends) meets on the 2 and 4 Sundays of each month. All ages are welcome. Those with questions may call Jeannie at 510-610-0075.
Cruise to Benefit
SMHS Scheduled
Sitka Maritime Heritage Society and Allen Marine are hosting a cruise of Sitka Sound 3:30-6 p.m. Saturday, July 4
Dr. Brinnen Carter will discuss the science of underwater archaeology, and some of the happenings---and mishaps---in Sitka Sound in the age of sail and steam.
The cruise will include sites of historic mishaps, and view wildlife. Light refreshments will be served and there will be a no-host bar.
Tickets are $50 for adults, and $35 for children 12 and younger, and are available at Old Harbor Books, and at the boat (if still available). For more information, call 747-3448.
First Friday
Event July 3
The public is invited to celebrate First Friday 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 3, at the Island Artists Gallery at 205 B Lincoln St.
Featured will be music by Casey Rhea and Apollo Stone.

Kohler-Kainulainen
Services Scheduled
Services for Janene Kohler-Kainulainen will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 25. The celebration of life will be held at the Sitka Elks Lodge. The services will begin with the Sitka Emblem Club’s Memorial Service, with potluck reception following.
